Has anyone used a ROKU streaming device on your TV in St. Maarten, to access more TV channels.

We take our FireStick with us. We use a VPN to connect to a Canadian server if required (some streaming services want you to be in your “home” country).

Roku works but you may not be able to get your local channels.

We use our roku for Prime and Netficks. Our local tv chanels will not work outside the US unless you use a vpn.

Peter & Christine, do you have to subscribe to Prime and Netflix in St. Maarten to get them with ROKU, I know we can't get them for free there.

If you have subscriptions at home then you can access them in St. Maarten. However, unless you use a vpn, the available content is a bit different. I find the available content is more affected on Prime Video than Netflix.
I subscribe in the US so not sure if everything is the same for Canadian subscribers.

We subscribe Netflix in Canada but I was told by Netflix that we can't access our account in St. Maarten.

We have a Firestick programmed in Mexico that allows us to view thousands of channels from around the world including local Canadian channels. We bring it everywhere. The only place it has not worked is at large hotel chains that somehow restrict access to the HDMI ports.

Re: Being told by Netflix that it won't work in SXm is kinda true BUT if you use a VPN your chances of success increase significantly. I use my stick which is from the USA and it works everywhere. The only service that won't work is Hulu. I watch the NE Patriots games on a local Providence station all the time in SXM

I have watched Netflix on my roku for the past 8 years or so while in St. Maarten....and that is with no vpn. Again, content is a bit different but I have had no issues. Watched Netflix as recently as this past August.

My subscription is in the US. When I go to St. Maarten, I am able to connect with no problems. I can only speak to my experience.

with Roku we can use our Prime and Netfick account from the US. Some shows are not available outside the US.
