I am here but kind of frustrated by whole pictures-in-reports process. I don't write reports on my phone but in Word. Getting photos from phone into reports is more steps/trouble than I want to go to on vacation. May try to do something after I get home. Sorry.
I also had a problem with the photos being too large. It has been no problem the last few years, but I kept trying. After finding a few small ones and writing a report, I couldn't post it. It said it was already posted. I gave up. I use to spend so much time transferring photos, a few years ago, and I didn't want to have those problems again. I will go back to being The Lurker. LOL
I have been posting pictures on Jeff Bergers FB page since I arrived as it is simple to add them there. I too am using iphone/ipad and can’t find a solution here.
Facebook is simple for reports and posting pictures. Almost easier to post there and provide a link. Make it public on your own page and everyone can read it even if you don’t have FB. But if posted in groups or to a select audience non friends can not see it.
With all this talk about having difficulty posting pictures on this thread I thought I would try a test for myself. We have a trip coming up and I like posting pictures. Well the results are in and "Houston" I have a problem. I was able to attach 2 sunset pictures as they were below the 2MB limit, but 99% of the pictures on my Samsung phone are over that size. Any help from the techies out there would be appreciated. Thank You
I had the same problem. To post them the specified size you have to resize them before posting which is a pain. It is not friendly to pictures taken with a cell phone.
Whaletail - I also have a Samsung. If I wrote the report with my phone, which I don't, it might be easier to get the photos attached to the report (but still not incorporated into the report as I used to do), but there's still the size issue. Louise/Fabila has mastered the resizing, but I am just not willing to spend that kind of time.
Sure - posting pictures is easy if they are somewhere on the internet, and that's why I used to use Photobucket. Now that it's not compatible with TTOL, I am not persuaded about the "ease" Carol claims. I am open to suggestions.
I went to Google photos where all my phone pics are auto uploaded and a 4 MB image was less than 2 MB there...no clue why unless they don't upload at full resolution
boucharda - My phone will take every photo and place it in Samsung Gallery and Google Photos, why I don't have a clue. So I tried your idea and checked both locations of a pic and they were the same size so that won't help me with posting. I agree with Jazzgal on if I have to resize to post it's going to add too much time.
Scubaman - Yup. I did a test the other day before our upcoming trip and pictures I've uploaded before and posted won't anymore. It says the file is now too big. Try a test yourself.
I’ve encountered the “exceeded picture size” when using my phone too. That is why I take my old Olympus camera to the island. The picture quality isn’t great, but it allows me to quickly post trip pictures on TTOL.
That is definitely under the limit, can you email it to me.
The attachment manager says that the limit is 2MB, so the 2.7MB picture would be over the limit, correct? Before the recent website updates I believe the attachment manager limit was 4.5MB which allowed me to attach any of my pictures. Now I can't. Just looking for a solution before I'm on island. Thanks for any help.
The settings were correct in the forum software. But the upgrade also updated the server, the php version and another thing. That is where the 2mg limit was. Have fixed it now and it works as I tested it with Whale tail's photo that she sent me.
