Any background?
In the spring we were rerouted to Antigua overnight after circling quite a few times.
I wish all the delayed guests a prompt and safe arrival!

WestJet 4176 coming tomorrow. Not sure why. You would think they have enough planes with swoop. Maybe not enough crew. Just a guess though.

We fly 2276 on Jan 9. So far it looks that flight is still on.

Apparently it was a crew issue. This will cost them big time because of the new Canadian regulations for cancelled flghts.

Hi there. Am a wee bit concerned about Westjet.....maybe have no reason to be. We booked our flights quite a while ago to fly out of Toronto on Jan 21/2025 Originally the flight number was WS 2652 going and WS 2653 returning. In sept/2024 got an email stating that there was a flight schedule adjustment, saying they had to change one or more flights on my itinerary. But, no worries, no action required. Anyways, in that email it said that our original flight number (WS2652) was changed to WS 2276 and similar on return it was changed to WS 2277. Am I to assume that now I may be on a Swoop plane? And if I have paid for seat selection, they state in email that they will try to give us original seating? I guess I had better contact westjet with a few questions?? Just reading some of these threads makes me a little suspicious as to why Westjet is having to do this, lol

You may also want to look up your reservation on the WestJet site. That should tell if you are still in the seat you booked. It will also tell you the 'planned' aircraft and you can look at the details to see the seating layout of the planned aircraft. If it is all one cabin with no premium or extended comfort seating, it is likely an un-reconfigured Swoop plane. I say 'planned' aircraft, because it could change last minute.
Our flights for December and January had the flight number changed. The current planned aircraft still shows it as a WestJet plane with premium and extended comfort seating. (Dec 1 to SXM, Jan 7 to TO.)

The long-standing flight numbers for WestJet between YYZ and SXM of WS 2652/2653 were renumbered to WS 2276/2277 for ALL flights on or after October 31, 2024. It was due to a realignment of flight numbers by WestJet. It has nothing to do with equipment changes. That is a separate issue.
As @jaxon60 points out, the only way to tell if your flight has had an equipment change to economy-class-only former Swoop aircraft is to check your reservation seating to see if your seat or class (Premium vs. Economy) has changed. That change can happen at any time right up to departure, unfortunately.
Air Canada is having similar issues, as are a number of carriers, due to the delay in delivery of planned new Boeing 737 aircraft by Boeing itself.

The type of aircraft is the same 737- 800. If you booked any of the economy seats, nothing will change even if they use a SWOOP plane. However those planes have no premier seating, all economy so if you booked the bigger seats, they do not exist. No wifi or entertainment either on the Swoop planes. Everything stayed the same for my flight with only the change in flight numbers. You will be fine, I'm sure.
