What are the three secrets to a successful business? location, location, location

Most of the time (check the winds) - if you are in the bay facing the Cooper Isle restaurant > you want to be "close to shore" and "off to your left (port)" > tucked in.

Cooper is famous for getting backwinded, so keep that in mind if the wind is blowing from the NE. Boats can get tangled up.

Cooper: I remember one 2:00 am morning, in late May, when none of the crew could sleep. We all shared the experience up on the deck of our "rolling" side to side monohull with no breeze and plenty of heat/humidity and some flying insects. What a bonding moment!

I, also, remember one mid afternoon with minimal breeze and several of the moored boats playing "clackers" with each other.

The FCFS moorings near Quart-a-Nancy can get rough and rolly in a NE wind.

Beyond that, I like to be closer in when it's rough and on the outside when it's not for the unobstructed view.

Some people like the moorings closest to the beach for swim-ashore.

Thanks for the info. We plan to be at Cooper next Tuesday, seems to be a bit windy. Is there a potential of a North Swell also?

I have never found a North swell to impact the Cooper Island moorings.

We have had just about every anchoring problem there is at Cooper. We have been backwinded, rolled in the swells, and at one point dragged by the current (before mooring balls were available). Cooper is one of my favorites but it can be a challenge.
