I checked a couple of facebook groups and did not find anything, at least not yet.

Same here.

I thought that the airport was open for several years.

"Official" reopening after 7+ years of bungled and delayed reconstruction. It has been open but with limited arrivals/departure/food/etc. facilities.

We left the island yesterday afternoon and saw them setting up for the ceremony. Here's a picture of some beautiful flowers there.

We were impressed with the arrival and departure process. The airport is looking great!

To our surprise and not in a good way, there was a line half way through the airport for the scanners to enter the up stairs. Where after taking EVERYTHING off you still had to scan your passport!!
IMHO, they need to install a couple more body scanners. This seems to be the hold up. The upstairs gets backed up, then the monitors stop the line for the downstairs scanners until the up stairs catches up!! With all that, it's still a LOT better than the tents!!!

Open, but not exactly functioning:) We have a few months before we need to worry about it.
