It’s time to go home today, and I just had to have one last chocolate croissant before returning to a healthier diet at home. Our friends were already seated at a small table on the bakery's patio, and we joined them, recapping this wonderful and fun trip. We had so many laughs together and created some great memories.

There’s not much more to talk about. We packed, enjoyed one last soak in the pool and received hugs from Chantal, our gracious hostess for the last 11 nights. We left some dog treats for the sweet resident dog, Arkas.

Traffic was heavy and it took almost an hour to get from Grand Case to Simpson Bay. We returned the rental car to Empress, then spent the next few hours at the airport. There were many people working on the setup for the “Reopening” of the airport. As I’ve stated in another thread, the airport is really nice.

Our incoming American plane did not get a jetway, so we walked in the pouring rain to the dreaded shuttle bus. What a fitting way to end a somewhat rainy trip.

On a more positive note, American upgraded the two of us to first class for the second leg of the flight home. That flight was delayed a bit, and we arrived home at 2:03 am.

I hope you enjoyed my reports and pictures. I don’t spend a lot of time writing the reports or editing the pictures, but I just want to give back to this wonderfully informative forum.

Thanks for all the kind comments.

Thoroughly enjoyed all of your reports. Chocolate croissants are always my favorite breakfast... Who am I kidding breakfast, brunch snack, it always works! Sorry you had so much rain but I always say, a rainy day in St. Maarten beats a sunny day at home and you certainly made the best of it! Hope your travels home were safe, Thx for the ride!

Nice report. Where did that incoming AA flight originate from?

Thank you Scubaman. The incoming flight originated from Charlotte.
