Shortly after waking up this morning there was a heavy, but brief rain. Jen and I took a short walk, and I bought a scrumptious chocolate croissant at the local chocolate store / bakery.
Not being sure if the weather would co-operate for a trip to Pinel Island, we opted to go to Marigot instead. It’s a Saturday, and for as long as I can remember, it’s usually Market Day. I was wrong. There were only five vendors set up! While it was disappointing, Jen was still able to find a pretty beach cover up. With beers in hand, we walked along the waterfront, admiring the beautiful boats docked at the marina. John has a sweet tooth, so we stopped by at Chez Fernand for a baked treat. He chose a pineapple tart, that was large enough for the four of us to split. It was really good!
We then proceeded to Le Gout du Vin, where we were nicely greeted by the staff (owner?). The wine selection in this beautiful store is pretty spectacular. Saturday is wine tasting day and we all enjoyed the two whites and two reds that were presented. The bottles were covered up and we had to guess what type of wine we were tasting. It was an informative and fun way to spend an hour or so. We bought a few bottles of wine and headed out for lunch.
We took a short drive to the Marigot Marina. Jen and I looked at some clothing items in the high end boutiques, but the prices were out of our comfort zone, as in $395 for a dress.
For lunch, we settled in at La Main a la Pate. Items ordered were Moules et frites, Pizza Bolognese and a fish dish. The restaurant was busy, but the service and food were very good. Back in the day, we enjoyed many a lunch here with Bill and Elaine. I so miss that.
When we returned to Grand Case, we took a short stroll to the beach and took a relaxing soak in the warm ocean waters.
A vote was taken for dinner (I lost) and it was a repeat of last night. Cheese, pate, fruit and baguette on the patio. Although I was disappointed not to go out, it was still great to spend time with dear friends.
After dinner we played cards, where the ladies won again.
Sounds like you are having a great time ! We eat at la main a la pate around 6 times during our trip in January. Foods great & service as well & they never rush you.
