She was a famous Island artist. Her residence and art studio was in the Friars Bay area. I have many of her paintings in my home and I will miss visiting with her when I am on the island.

Jazzgal will chime in once she gets settled in to horny Toad. Ruby Bute was a wonderful local artist of much reknown on the French side. Her studio was just off friars Bay road to the left before taking bridge over the gut.

I was really saddened to read about this on FB as I had planned to go visit her this trip. Like Elizabeth, I have a lot of her art: prints, tiles, coasters, other miscellanea. I even have one giclee that I haven't yet gotten framed. She was unique: kind, irreverent, fun, author as well as painter. The island has suffered a big loss today.

Story about Ruby Bute in the Daily Herald.

I'm not personally familiar with the other gentleman.

Yes, Richard. I had forgotten his name. He too is a sweetheart.

Sending sincere condolences to her family and friends. We met Ruby when Maho area used to have local artist and vendors displaying their items right along the mail street. She was a lovely lady. We have several of her art items....coaster, tiles, place mats and prints. She did such beautiful work! May she rest in peace.

We met Ruby while having lunch at Yvette’s, where several of her paintings grace the walls.

May she rest in peace.
