Our friends were flying into SXM this afternoon, so we spent a little time in our pool. It's very cloudy here in Grand Case and the forecast is for thunderstorms and rain this afternoon.
We drove down to Beacon Hill to lounge and have lunch at D’s Bar & Grill. I took a small walk to BSV in the hopes that Louise and David were home. Success! We’d never met before, but they welcomed me like an old friend. After a nice conversation, I returned to D’s and we sat under a beach cabana, gazing at the beautiful ocean.
D’s has a very nice menu and I ordered the Tuna Poke Bowl, while Marc opted for a Cuban sandwich. Both were very good and the bucket of beer was cold and refreshing. The staff was friendly and attentive. It was a very nice and relaxing few hours.
Our friends’ flight arrived at 2:00 pm and we waited about half an hour at D’s before going to pick them up. It was perfect timing, as they stepped out of the airport shortly after we arrived. Unfortunately, their AA flight didn’t arrive at a jetway, so they had to wait for the stairs and take the bus to the terminal. It took them 45 minutes from landing, going through arrivals, getting luggage and exiting the airport.
After a trip to Super U, we all enjoyed a soak in the pool and a couple of cocktails. When it was time for dinner, our friends asked if we could just do takeout from Spiga, as they were tired from travel. All of our meals were very good. I really enjoyed the Lobster Ravioli (sorry, no pictures were taken).
Fortunately, it never rained here in Grand Case today.
So nice to meet you as well. I’ve had both the tuna Poké bowl and the Cuban sandwich there are different occasions. I preferred the Cubano as I’m a little bit of a tuna pokè bowl snob and I remember it was just OK but everyone has different tastes so I’m glad you enjoyed it.
