The day started off with heavy rain and overcast skies, making it seem less than promising. Luckily, by mid-morning, the sun emerged, brightening our spirits.
The waves outside our unit were bigger than in previous days, but they were manageable. We enjoyed a refreshing dip in the ocean before settling down with a good book. With D’s Beach Bar so close, we strolled over for lunch and split blackened grilled Mahi Mahi tacos. It was the catch of the day topped with pineapple salsa and lime crema —tasty and enough to satisfy our lunch appetite. David took a moment to visit the observation deck to watch a Jet Blue plane bound for NY take off.
Around 2 PM, a brief heavy rain shower rolled in but soon cleared, leaving us with a breezy afternoon and glimpses of sunshine.
Our plans to meet friends at the SMYC hit a snag due to terrible traffic on Airport Road at 6:30 pm. Traffic was dead stop from the roundabout where the car is a bumper-to-bumper as far as I could see. Thinking we could outsmart the gridlock, we tried a shortcut, only to find everyone else had the same idea. We managed to turn back and headed to Maho, opting to eat at Mr. Chow again. I didn’t mind at all, and our friends had no trouble reaching us.
For dinner, I enjoyed the bao bun salad with shrimp, while David had beef cubes with pepper. Friends went for the tofu and shrimp General Tso’s, and everyone was happy with their meals. A great end to the day!
