Dinner at Astra was enjoyable. The coconut martini was refreshing. The chicken fried spring rolls were good, but I missed the lettuce and mint usually served with them for wrapping before dipping in the sweet chili sauce; I’ve had better.
I opted for the pan-fried grouper with a cognac-infused butter sauce, which was the catch of the day, served with rice and salad. I’m not a fan of plain white rice, so I requested a double salad instead. The fish was tender and flavorful, but I was a bit disappointed with the portion size.
David had the seafood risotto with clams, mussels and shrimp, along with calamari, which he really enjoyed.
Mike had the steak, which he found tasty and well-portioned. It was a big steak.
For dessert, I had a rich and tasty Oreo cheesecake. Astra has a lovely ambiance, and the staff is friendly and efficient.
After dinner, we headed to Dinghy Dock to catch the Yankees game. We arrived during the fifth inning, just in time to see their 5-0 lead slip away due to three fielding errors. With the game lacking excitement and the atmosphere at Dinghy Dock being extremely quiet, we decided to leave.
It rained all last night hard and as I write this at 7 AM Thursday morning by the way, Happy Halloween everyone it is still raining heavily .
