The past 4 days have been uneventful and going according to script. Our driver arrived at 2:00 am Tuesday for the 90+ mile trip to DFW for our 5 am departure. We landed around 1 pm, and other than waiting for luggage arrived at Grand Case Beach Club around 2:30, our home for the next month.
It is hot and muggy, I believe the dew point was 82 on Tuesday, and the water temperature is 86—perfect for me—so perfect in fact that on Wednesday I was in the water from 10 am – 3 pm, exiting only to make a bar run. I hadn’t done that in ages.
Our primary activities are eating, drinking, swimming, and kicking back. We don’t visit other beaches as we have 2 perfectly good beaches on site, with all the conveniences we need. So far, we’ve eaten lunch at Le Taitu, Tapas at Sunset Café (the kitchen will have a full menu and dinner hours next week), Bistrot Caraibbes, and cheese and crackers from our Bacchus Deli run. Breakfast is generally croissants with butter and jam. We also picked up supplies at Super-U, so we’re set for a while.

Color I found the rooms newly renovated last year The renovations, I think, are now outside, pool, bar, restaurant. Rooms are very modern now chrome, glass, etc. with every room having paintings by Richardson, a local artist.
Bathroom was polished dark wood, tile and a shower with rough stone floor a little hard on sentisive feet. Kitchen has Nespresso coffee maker added to the already full kitchen. We actually prefer the Caribbean feel of the rooms at BSV to those at GCBC but you can't beat the location and the view. And the fact one can walk to so many great restaurants to eat. And you can't beat the free laundry and the transport into town and to Super U. As you said, no need for a car.
RonDon essentially covered the situation. The "demolition" phase is complete and the pool reopens tomorrow. The new structure is in place, but totally unfinished and should be complete by Dec 15. The are redoing the restaurant and adding a bar and dining area up top to take advantage of the great vista. So, no real changes at this time, so no pix, but it should all be done by high season, Island Time willing.
We probably don't need a car, but this time of the year the rates are $15/day for a Nissan Versa, so despite limited use, it's nice to have one, even if only for the birds to display their artistic talents.
Yes, you know how much we love BSV!! But I would love to spend a week at GCBC!! Yes, sounds like they got away from that old world carribean feel decor, OKA?? It's got to be beautiful!! It's a big number for weekly rates!! Got to cover the upgrade costs I bet!! The view, so close to the village!!! I put on ten pounds just thinking of all the restaurants and LOLO's we could dine at!! LOL!!! We stayed once at Doves nest. We loved being close to everything !!
Our last stay at GCBC was a while ago, pre renovations and pre our discovering BSV but it was wonderful. We had already been on island for two weeks that trip and GCBC was for winding down from that particular trip. We arrived, checked in and parked our car, not using it again until we checked out to head to the airport. No need to since everything we wanted was right there or else very easily walkable. We had a loft unit and it was perfect for our wants, the only drawback being there was only one bathroom - downstairs and at the far end of the unit, a bit of a hike in the middle of the night. The ‘old’ accommodations were lovely and I’m thinking I’m probably more into the Caribbean charm than glitz and glamour but whatever, the decor, the location, the resort’s offerings and staff were all great. As far as I know, it's still Marina, formerly of Palm Beach on Orient. Her Facebook page still lists that as her employment, and she was there last December.
