Yes, a super weird question from a crazy cat person. Does anyone know if fresh (as opposed to shelf stable) milk is sold within security at MIA? I'm trying to save a trip upon arrival to Carrefour to keep Mrs. Cruzer happy. It's for the resident Queen of GCBC, Picasso. And it needs to be in a carton as opposed to a cup with a lid.
Why not ask your flight attendant on your flight from Mia to Sxm for a small carton of milk and put it in your carry on bag. They can probably bring it to you right before the flight lands. I find most flight attendants to be very accommodating.
cruzer--I don't know the answer to your question, but unless you have some way to keep it cold on the plane, wouldn't the milk go bad, by the time you fly from Miami, arrive, get through immigration, get your car, and get to GCBC?
They might sell milk at one of those little quick shop with overpriced books and snacks within the airport, probably a pint size or something.
I am sure GCBC would supply milk for you if asked before your arrival.
Also no reason to go to carrefour for "fresh" milk, the super U in Hope Estate has refrigerated milk in the case at the end of the milk/yogurt stuff, next to the eggs. Think Rosenberg dairies or something from Florida.
They do have it in many places in the airport, behind security, such as Dunkin Donuts, Einstein Bagels or Hudson News shops. All of them have plastic bottles of milk with sealed lids. The issues become paying an obscene price and keep it from spoiling. Now you have multiple choices.
Thanks for the inputs. I now have plenty of alternatives--I'm just trying to avoid the supermarket visit upon arrival. We still have to stop, but at the local Chinese market in Grand Case. I believe my quest is referred to as a First World Problem.

Correct. Unless a kitten cats shouldn’t even get milk. Always thought it was a nice thing to do and couldn’t figure out why our cats were getting sick. Lactose intolerant. Guess it’s a thing with older cats!!!!

I didn't know that. That's for that info. Maybe Cruzer could find mention of that somewhere online, print it and give it to his wife so she won't start the vacation upset. Or maybe she'll be upset to think she has been doing something bad for Picasso. I bring cat treats for Picasso when we stay at GCBC. Like Icote I too fed the cats at Divi when staying there.
No milk for our cat but he loves his water, especially out of the birdbath.
Funny. We have a feral that has made one of our chair cushions outside his/her home. Neighbor feeds it and we leave water for it. Sometimes we see him/her drink out of the pool. I would think leaving milk out in a hot climate would be quick to spoil and get contaminated with bacteria.
We actually have about 4 cats in the neighborhood and they all visit the birdbath when it is out. It is an old concrete birdbath so in the winter I turn it over to keep water from freezing in it.

Yes, folks we are fully aware that many/most cats are lactose intolerant, but Picasso has never shown any adverse effects to milk. We've been doing this for about a dozen years, For the record, she is feral, 13 years old, and only been to the vet twice--once for "sanctioning (spaying)" and just recently when another feral cat kicked the crap out of her. Believe me, we hear about this every time we visit from Madame Lamole.
I have posted on this subject, before. The fresh milk is not for a cat, but for me, so that I can have fresh milk to put in my tea in the morning.
I purchase a quart plastic/paper container of organic ultra pasteurised skim milk from Whole Foods, then i freeze it. Takes over 12 hours to thaw.
If you live in or near New York State, I think that Stewarts Shops still sells milk in paper containers, much less expensive than Whole (paycheck) Foods.
