just a lazy day by the pool with more great weather
in our first 18 days, only 1 full day washout and one cloudy dark morning and no watching for any potential H--------s

before dinner we stopped over Jewels & Beyond to pick up a sized ring which got sent out, it arrived while we were there and upon inspection they sent it back because of a couple of loose stones, makes me feel good that they inspect all sales thoroughly before giving to customer
we have sent two couples from RI LaPlage this week to purchase wedding rings and both have been impressed with their non pressured sales and happy with their purchases
one couple was in the store when we went back to get wife's ring and they had narrowed it down with a couple of stunning rings with pretty good sized center stone
glad I don't have to go through picking out a wedding ring again especially how high gold has gone

following the reviews of many ( I do remember David's) we gave the Greenhouse a try
we called the greenhouse to reserve a large prime rib
we parked up the pretty steep hill
only a few tables were occupied with a couple still in the pool and didn't see any other prime rib served, really low season
the host got the night off to a good start with his infectious smile (unlike a not so welcoming greeting as mentioned earlier in the week somewhere else)
Our server Harry ( looks like a body builder) had a great smile as well and was awesome
He got our happy hour order in for drinks under the bell and offered to ring in next round and deliver them later although we only had a first round

In all honesty, we probably wouldn't go to the Greenhouse if it wasn't for the prime rib for me
I really wanted to know that all is said is true as yes I had my doubts
I hear people say for example that maybe Pineapple Pete's is the best restaurant on the island, makes me wonder where else they eat, not bashing Pete's, just an example as many people love Pete's, I just like it a lot for what it is

I didn't want a starter, but wife choose the chicken nachos to share
a simple version with plenty of melted cheese and the added topping of chicken was very tasting,
nothing else on the chips with sour cream, salsa and guacamole served on the side

warm Johnny cakes are served instead of bread which we enjoyed

my wife choose the coconut encrusted chicken topped with a lighter pineapple cream sauce which worked very well
plenty was left over for today's lunch

My good sized prime rib arrived cooked to a perfect MR as requested, my wife had the first bite and approved
after my first bite, I agree with all that have recommended it
needless to say, a big portion of leftover will be enjoyed for lunch toady or maybe made into a sandwich later

when we asked Harry for some boxes, he was thoughtful enough to put in some small cups with lids filled with horseradish and sour cream for the half of baked potato
this server is on point

I really think the food could have been lousy and we still would have had a nice evening because of Harry

Thank you to all for the great suggestions
we had been to the Greenhouse a long time ago for happy hour at the bar and were not impressed with the appetizers

glad we came back and if in the mood for prime rib, know where to go
no service is added to the final bill and Harry got the well deserved 25%

on our way home we pass our home base RI La Plage to try our luck at the Puerto Cupecoy casino
we jump from one particular game to the same game on another machine (Larry Lobster)
and usually hit about 10 machines playing until we hit the interactive which is usually a nice payout
as mentioned we have won every night at this casino

last night we only hit 4 machines before we quadrupled our modest initial drop and wife wanted to leave with the winnings
again only a few other in the casino, you almost get your drink before you sit down as the servers know we have the same after drink each visit
the winnings for the night almost paid for dinner and we had fun

home early for the opening of NFL football

Harry is a great server and has been there for years. We always request Odessa as our server ad Harry always stops by for a visit. I see you got the King cut PR. The Queen cut is more than enough for us especially with that Johnny Cake and 2 sides that come with it. Love the vegetable of the day. Always fresh steamed broccoli. Odessa does the same for us with putting in the second HH round of drinks just before 7. Works well for us as we both order the same drink.

I observed here as well and I could see that she was sweet and kind to her tables and getting hugs

should have gotten broccoli as don't eat it that much at home because it upsets my wife's belly

don't mind leftovers, make a good sandwich

Yes. Leftover PR is great the next day. Even with the Queen cut we have leftovers. First time ordering the King cut I felt like a glutton trying to eat it all which I just couldn't do. Changed to the Queen and that takes care of my itch.

We discovered the prime rib at Greenhouse just a few years ago. It is absolutely worth every penny. Always Delicous. As for Pineapple Pete....i never heard anyone reference it as the best on the island. In all the years, and plenty of times at PP's...i would say it has always been decent, but not great...BUT, our time last year will be our last going. It was a horror show. Four of us ordered different things, and no one was happy with their meal. Said something to the server, and their comment was....so? No offer to make it right, no offer to take off price, not even a drink. We all left dissapointed, and swore that will be it for the place!! All four of us have been going there for many many years before our bad experience, but all agreed there are too many other restaurants that we know will be good, and why go back and just take a chance. So many restaurants, so little time!

Having not eaten at PP for several years (never a bad experience, just tried other places), I went this past trip and it was good and they were busy. 5 first-timers were having dinner there and I had arranged to meet them for drinks as I knew one of them. 4 of the 5 really enjoyed their meals and the one who was disappointed did not understand what their version of lobster thermidor was. I know it is not gourmet but as busy as they were, they must still be pretty good and many locals frequent the place as well.

Talking about Greenhouse, ever since Mike Riddle took over, he has done a great job!! Notice that the same staff has been there a long time!!! He's got one of the best "HH" on the island and his "Bang bang shrimp or lobster" is so good!!! What we have done for "P R" night was go there a couple of days before and reserve our King cut!!! It's so filling Louise and I share it, love all the sides!! Get there for "HH" stay for dinner, one of the most inexpensive nights on the Island!!! On the note of "PP", we have never had a bad meal there!! I even called Pierre from the states to book an inside table. He honored it!! Such a gentlemen!! Louise loves the lobster thermidor, it is really good according to her, She doesn't share!! LOL!!! I love the Lamb shank!! OHHYEAH!!!

Last and final time we were at PP I purposely went there for the recommended Lamb Skank. Granted it's a large portion but way too salty and had that pre prepared come out of the freezer into the microwave taste. That was the final time there.

Guess I'm going to have to give PR at Greenhouse a try; that looks fabulous. Haven't been there for years and wasn't impressed last time, but I've never had their PR. Thanks for the picture.

If it wasn't prime rib night, it is certainly a restaurant we wouldn't visit
sliced up leftover prime rib yesterday and make a killer sandwich with a fresh baguette, au jus, horseradish sauce, ooey gooey melted brilliant savarin cheese and some of our remaining shallot vinaigrette salad dressing

the kind of delicious concoction people make when they are high and got the munchies
