been a wonderful three weeks, but ready to go home, miss our fuzzy children although they have been taken good care
we did have some furry friends at RI La Plage including the deaf gray cat, the black & white one who hangs outside John's old office near Nina's and the precious
black cat that hangs by the studios on the lower level near the laundry area

we also took a liking to the goats near Mary Boons and the donkeys of Orient

got a good half day at the pool in as the clouds and light showers alternated in the sky

Making a repeat visit to Altro in Puerto Cupecoy, we found the restaurant very busy again, seems to secret is out
service remains attentive despite how busy they are and understandably a bit relaxed while they move from table to table
the two servers work together and get the job done

there is actually enough choices on the blackboard menu along with specials to warrant a third visit if time allowed

wife choose both her appetized and main off the specials board negating the $39 prix fix
her good size appetizer was good cheese baked over puff pastry with honey and chopped nuts with a petite side of greens
for her main, the lobster over house made fettucine was a really good choice, the cream sauce that also held bites of lobster must have been cut with some seafood stock as it was not overly rich

taking no leftovers as we are departing today

sticking with the prix fix menu, I started off with the tuna carpaccio which I have enjoyed on previous visits
I needed to try the duck in cabbage, shredded duck was wrapped in a cabbage leaf served over good mashed potatoes and some perfectly cooked carrot slices
a "gravy' laid in the bottom of the bowl

French county cooking, and while the bowl was completely cleaned sans a little mashed, I do prefer a seared duck breast in a black cherry or citrus sauce

we revisited some desserts we have enjoyed in the past

I remembered how good the chocolate and coconut mousse was while my wife enjoyed the panna cotta with a fruit sauce

two rounds of mild rum shots with a round of expresso martini shots in between ended the evening

we bid our sincere farewells and will be back in 49 weeks

Sammy our server is one of our favorites on the island along with JC (La Villa), Hassan (SXM burger), Shariff (Pizza Italy) and Harry from the Greenhouse

they are all friendly with great smiles

Thanks for all your great reports and photos. We're foodies, too, so especially enjoy the evaluations of your meals. The quality and creativity of food on SXM continues to amaze me, despite years of visiting.

That duck sounds intriguing. I'm like you and enjoy seared duck, both domestic and wild, with various sauces but that got my attention.

I've looked but can't seem to find hours of operation for Altro. Anyone know?

Thanks for the report on the duck. I have some trepidation about it but will give it a try in November if it's still on the menu.

I miss the duck at Le Tastevin in Grand Case. Duck with cocoa merlot sauce. It was amazing. My husband makes a rendition of it but there is just a little something missing in his version.
