small new place to eat in Maho directly across from RI La Terrasse great prices, friendly cook and service, no service fee and not necessary
for breakfast we enjoyed a petite buttery croissant filled with ham, egg and sweet and nutty melted raclette cheese
we returned for lunch and had a crisp arugula and green leaf salad, toasted goat cheese crottins, assorted olives, scallions, multi colored cherry tomatoes, a creamy balsamic dressing and finished with a reduced balsamic drizzle the light gnocchi's were tossed in a simple brown butter with lards and melted emmental cheese
We plan on returning every day
hung around pool most of day to spend last day with week 34 friends received a bag of "leftovers", TP, tissues, paper towels, pancake mix and an unopened bottle of vodka which we will pass along to someone as we do not usually drink vodka although we used to make lychee martinis when in island
We made a last minute decision for dinner as we were awaiting word if our friends staying in Orient found a baby sitter with no luck, we decided on Jai's contemporary Fusion cuisine in Simpson Bay, it is connected to Pizza Italy for reference We have been coming here since he opened and have always enjoyed the food and friendly service
While the menu doesn't change much, we still love the burrata with blistered tomatoes and the fork tender octopus I wish the octopus serving was a bit larger as it so was good
my wife is watching what we eats avoiding certain spices that upset her digestion, she enjoyed the large portion of shrimp biryani I have tried many of the entrees on the menu, but selected the whole deboned branzino with a romesco sauce the portion of fish was more then plenty and while tasty itself was better with some of the light tomato and nut sauce
we tried the new dessert chocolate kulfi, a dome of chocolate ice cream with chopped pieces of something I couldn't identify while light and completely consumed, the house specialty dessert the sizzler of brownie topped with melted Nutella sauce is still recommended
Glad we choose Jai's as tonight is the last night before vacation
Oh BTW that place to eat is Chez Mahokid at the RI La Plage
Looking forward to trying the new restaurant in Maho. But looking at their website, it looks like they are closed more often than they are open. Maybe we will get lucky next May.
