after a week in Orient and 3 relaxing days in Saba, we are ready to return home to RI La Plage
my last thought of Saba was the kindness and extreme friendliness of the people
I left a few tears there just before boarding the plane, I was so touched on how we were treated by our friends and their family members

With only 5 passengers on our flight, we took off 25 minutes early
My wife got all worried about the 12 minute flight but I found nothing to worry about
I enjoyed the slow approach to SXM and had a great view of Mullet and Maho despite my terrible pictures
we were off the plane and through customs with our luggage in less than 10 minutes
We waited for Leslie (Kenny's car service) to return our previous rented car from earlier in the week

A quick stop at Little Jerusalem to share a special and off the RI La Plage to check in
this is one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten and I am from the home of the cheesesteak
I was surprised to see Abraham stilling cooking as I know he is about to retire, that restaurant has been his life

Checked in and dumped luggage in room and quickly in pool with week 34 friends who are approaching the last days of vacation
Seems we know as many week 34 guests as our week 35 as we usually spend a few days before our week
one has been following along my journey for the last 10 days and is taking pool mates to Marigot today for the elusive pistachio crossiant

Around 4:00 PM we head over new bridge for Marigot and Super U
Traffic was blocked up with traffic trying to head south to Cole Bay
This also happened last week when we arrived for our first week in Orient
although there are two lanes at the end of the bridge, drivers from Marigot were blocking the inner lane so cars trying to go north were also stuck in the jam

Why such a back up, someone please let me know

once we were able to sneak through the outside lane, we were shopping shortly there after
I like the Super U in Hope Estate better the the one in Marigot for selection and it feels more French
Most items for all our breakfasts and hopefully every other lunch in since we dine out every night

Taking a chance we returned the same route about 45 minutes later and was happy to see the Marigot traffic was cleared but the cars coming from the Simpson Bay area were backed up to the airport
Worst traffic we have seen in 20 years

We have never tried La Rosa which is right across the street, and despite all the good reviews, but it looks like something that could be in my neighborhood back home
For the low season they are offering a three course prix fix and $30 and the first glass of wine for $5
Got nothing to lose and no expectations

there are about 5 appetizer choices along with the same number of entrees and two desserts
Keeping it real simple, all food was good, nothing spectacular, but it is a great value

First courses chosen included eggplant parmesan and conch au gratin
For our mains the garlic shrimp over pasta was very good and my veal parmesan while having a few chewy pieces was satisfying
The sauce over the veal was lighter than the heavier eggplant parmesan
They do offer a great garlic butter with their bread

they prepared a nice version of tiramisu, while the profiteroles were filled with whipped cream instead of ice cream
Service was friendly but maybe not as attentive as French restaurants visited
they did apologize for the delayed food but we generally enjoy very relaxed dinning
I definitely got spoiled on the French side with all the wines by the glass, house wine at La Rosa are from Chile

In the end, prix fix meal, bottled water, 3 glasses of wine with tip included, less than $100
would return for the value
the dinning room is appointed nicely and well air conditioned

A quick stop at the casino who lost power and was running on generator
my wife's slot machine did not reset, so were repaid out credits cash from the casino host who we had not seen previously
need to work him over to replace my casino royal hat which I left at GCBC years ago as we don't gamble enough to earn the hat with rewards

we left doubling on $20 initial investment, up for the day and covered the extra gratuity left at La Rosa since the meal was so inexpensive
