A big thank you to Linda for her review of Le cool heure from pretty long along
My wife faced book them this week to check on if they were back from vacation and the chef (wife) quickly responded back in French, nous sommes ouvert
Thankfully my 4 years of French meant take a break from the pool and enjoy lunch break

My wife started having abdominal issues about a week before we left and this was a nice change from the rich food we have been eating

Just south of the basketball courts in Grand Case, Le Cool Heure sits nestled behind some bushes and trees
A husband runs the front of the house while his wife does the cooking
The simple dining room was filled with friendly locals, we absolutely love spending time with them and making new temporary friends

The chalkboard menu has no appetizers and about 10 main entrees
the server was kind enough to go through the menu with us as there were two I could not translate (Veal Kidneys was one)

My wife played it safe and ordered the salmon requesting rice to help settle your belly
Although the salmon was thoroughly cooked, it was perfect for her

I ordered the dourade (mahi) which was nicely plated and garnished with a few tasty shrimp
I put the aioli on everything, it was so delicious

Wines are not more than red or white with 4 available by the bottle all for less than 30e

Our neighboring table suggested the "floating island" and mentioned it was her mother's favorite
A nice piece of meringue served on a creme anglaise
Wow my bowl was clean, worth the trip back just for that

Along with check were 4 small pastries, such a nice touch for a casual lunch

Lunch was $65 dollars including 2 glasses of wine and bottled water

I am so happy we finally got to try a new restaurant

Now I am seriously jealous; I love that place, as you know! My only issue is that I need to go with someone who can translate French as figuring out the menu can be problematic. Glad you finally made it! One of my favorites.

Had a great visit to Le Cool Heure as well, also Aloha beach club on Orient had a great floating island dessert if your into that!

Enjoy reading your reviews of the high end cuisine with great descriptions. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

Linda as mentioned the husband despite being busy, took the time to explain each dish
Thank you again

Almost at the end of our stay in Orient and just not enough meal time to go everywhere I like

Hubert the previous chef at Les Galets, I believe is overseeing the kitchen of Aloha so I know it would be good

He will be taking over overseeing the kitchen of Java, a beautiful oceanside restaurant in Grand Case

Also believe he is a part of Maison Mere in Orient Village

You will find our next 15 days of dining mostly will be a bit more casual especially if my wife's sporadic belly aches continue

But I had difficulty understanding his heavily accented English!

Interesting about the Java kitchen. That place is on my list for next trip.

"Linda, have you tried Google Translate?"
I would think that wouldn't be too convenient in a restaurant. Probably easier to just ask the server.

I have not but was planning to try it next time I go.

Scubaman - as I said, asking server was problematic for me as I had difficulty understanding his accent.

LOL! I thought you were talking about your husbands English accent!

Sorry Scuba!
