Just trying to figure how many years we have been going to La Villa, I believe it was the first year it opened we remember John Carlos (JC) when he was just a young man waiting for a ride home after his shift also remember meeting Florence on the beach with your infant child who is now in college Wow how time flies
Florence has recently left and going into the Air B& B renting with two units so far in Orient while husband Luke owns Orange Fever Co owner Christophe has brought his younger brother on board to be his partner and from lasts night visit seems like he will fit in well He did work at L'escapade years ago before it closed and he has good customer service skills
While the menu remains constant like almost all Grand Case restaurants, it is always a enjoyable meal
working along with Christophe, his brother Axel, JC was another new lady on the floor keeps up with the full dining room I'm guessing Cedric is on vacation with his twin brother (works at Le Cottage) since Le Cottage is on vacation We questioned a full room in low season and Christophe cleverly replied, many closed restaurants or we are good Usually JC is the comic
We did the 56e 3 course prix fix which is still a good value
A amuse of chilled carrot soup was surprisingly very tasty, carrot soup really?
My wife choose off the specials list the lobster thermidor in puff pastry with a extremely rich lobster sauce We had it last year as a special and I think it was even better this year Since we were recently in Maine and had a lot of lobster, we are holding off in SXM until later next week to order whole lobster
I ordered the same as last year the frogs legs in garlic butter sauce While a little messing to eat, they were awesome If you didn't know you may compare them to the most moist small chicken wing but not fried These two appetizers are my favorite so far although only 4 days in
I shook my head when my wife choose the chicken as he main, but once again was pleased in her decision as the nice portion of chicken was very moist and smothered with a rich porcini mushroom sauce ( I love sauces) and served with sweet mashed potatoes
A nice piece of grouper was lightly served with passion fruit and olive oil with the same potatoes for my main
for dessert my wife choose a new addition to the menu a refreshing rum soaked sponge cake topped with frozen lime mousse and a scoop of lime sorbet it was right up alley as mojitos used to be her favorite drink
for the first time I did order the profiteroles and selected the warm chocolate molten cake with vanilla ice cream which seems to be on every menu although petite in size, it was nice and gooey in the center with a rich chocolate flavor a pretty good change of dessert
I joked with JC that I hadn't seen the gas can rum shot and he laughed and said it was too busy
You see after dinner they off three rounds of rum shots starting with the easiest to drink up to the third round which is a bit strong and served out out a red plastic gas can dispenser
I enjoyed one shot and declined some champagne from Christophe as my wife's belly was jumpy
While we predominately go to LaVilla for the friendly service, I find the menu to be pretty standard but we really had a lovely evening at very reasonable costs
On a back note, it seems almost all restaurants now include a message about tips are not included on the bill or tips are appreciated
I think the La Villa is the first to just say Thank you for visiting us
Really like your assessment of LaVilla. We appreciate the service there and the food is good. Thanks for the descriptions and the pics. Looks and sounds like you had a great time. Keep up the good work 😊
It's been our go to place for years....Still remember when it was L'Alabama, back in the day. The service is always top notch, and they always treat their patrons as family. Great food, Great drinks, Great People!!!

Oh I didn't realize it was previously L'Alabama. That was our least favorite that year we visited. Love La Villa. Christophe greets us with a warm smile each year. Last year we passed by several times to go other places and Christofe , standing at the doorway, asked if he had offended us because we pass and don't stop. I told him we're booked for our last evening on our Grand Case stay; that we saved the best for last. He laughed and said he remembers when La Villa was our FIRST stop not last. I told him that was when our flight arrived later and he was the go to place for 5pm after checking into GCBC.
Yes remember L'Alabama but never dined there before Florence and Christophe took over I was trying to remember how many years we have been visiting the island Well saw Florence today with her son who is now 20 and we remember him in the belly, so at least 20 years As you would imagine, a well raised son going to college in Canada for computer science
Still many years before I catch up to the "wise oldtimers" on the site
Certainly welcome and you thank you as well This site is a wealth of information and keeps us in touch of all when we are not able to be there There are certain posters who I have read their reviews and tried out the restaurant Linda "Jazzgal" , we are hopefully going to Le Cool Heure today for lunch and looking forward to trying it for the first time
Also enjoy the "jousting" between the posts
While I am strongly opinionated, I do my best to stay neutral and say I believe but think when posting so I am always open to be corrected
L’Alabama was our favorite for years. When it was opened as La Villa we went once when they first opened but kept remembering L’Alabama. Might try it next time …..
