Do you know if Le Terrasse has a backup water supply? We will be staying there in December. Last year we were in Jordan Village and a few issues with water and power.
I don’t believe anyone has a back up water supply.
La Terrasse and La Plage have two water sources. One for drinking and the other for flushing toilets. They store, treated recycled, gray water in tanks. That water is used to flush toilets. So that water would probably not disappear right away. However, those tanks would run out eventually if they were not able to be refilled with treated recycled water. You would be left with bottled water from the market. There has been no issue with the supply of drinking water any time that I can remember since Irma
With regard to electrical outages in the last week, the building generator has only kicked on once and that was last week late Wednesday night.
I doubt if anyone has a backup system unless they have a cistern.
And I don't think that a cistern would be considered a backup water system, as cistern water isn't usually potable. La Vista does have a cistern, but we've been advised not to drink that water; They usually let us know when they're on the cistern.
Dr. Phil--are you on island? Just wondered as to whether this was a personal observation. As I have seen lots of GEBE notices re load shedding in the past week. Here is what was posted by GEBE yesterday.

hi Carol I’m not currently on the island. I have a friend staying in my condo for the last two weeks and guests before that for three or four weeks. I was there until the end of May when I reported the load shedding here on TTOL I get daily reports from my friend. I also know owners in another unit who are currently there.
However I also have an advanced Wi-Fi router. It can be monitored remotely. I can tell the last time the power was out to the minute. When the power goes out from GEBE there is a 15 second gap before the generator kicks in. That resets all the electronics. Until last Wednesday it was going on and off like clockwork. In Maho it usually went off at 6 PM. And came back on around 1 AM. I don’t know why, but that stopped after Wednesday. .
All that being said, I have friends in Cole Bay and other areas around the island who have reported power out yesterday and in the last few days.
So, I am just giving you my observation from my electronic source and from my guest staying in my unit and other owners I know in La Terrasse who are there.
Phil--OK, thanks. I think RI was one of the resorts where they were voluntarily being disconnected for a period of time? Perhaps that was the 6 PM to 1 AM schedule, that they were offline.
I am still wondering when the temporary generators will kick in. As per usual, there seems to be a total lack of information from GEBE about when that will happen.
Carol I just had a long phone conversation with the Manager of the homeowners association at La Terrasse. He also confirmed the power has not been off for about a week. I also asked about water issues? There have been none in Maho and therefore none at La Terrasse. GEBE is the provider of both electrical and water on the Dutch side of the island. Not sure why it was out in pelican but it may have been a local issue of some sort.
Phil--ok re electric outages. Still not sure why it isn't happening there.
Regarding water outages, as I said, they have been posted several times recently on the GEBE page, regarding different areas. And usually the outages are for several hours. Certainly NOT as bad as the electric situation, but concerning.
I would tend to believe him at least for la Plage and La Terrasse. He lives in one of the units and he works on the second floor during the day.. We know the power went out last week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday between 6 PM and midnight each day. But as of Thursday, the power has stayed on without interruption for 133 hours according to my remote router information. Since May, that has told me, every time the power has gone out which has been multiple times per day. But as of this afternoon, it has not been off for 133 hours.

I can say the power was definitely not out at Divi from 12:32 to 2:32 yesterday, but sounds like the generators are running now.
I answered that question . If you scroll up a bit you will find it. I did give a detailed reason how I am aware of the power situation at La Terrasse. The original question of this thread was asking whether or not La Plage had a generator which is why I responded that they do.
if you go back in time on this forum, you will see when Carol asked back in May about issues on the island what they might be. I was early to report that it was load shedding. That was back in mid May . I was there until the end of May and power was on and off a couple times a day in Maho. Not a big deal because La Terrasse has a generator.. I’ve had guests and friends in my place since I left and I am in daily communication with them regarding the power and other things.
According to my friends and the manager/controller of La Terrasse, who I talked to today there has not been an outage since last Thursday. I also have electronic technical means to know if the power goes off at La Terrasse which I mentioned earlier in this thread.
I also mentioned earlier in this thread that power is going out in many places on the island still. Also should mention that if you follow the GEBE posted schedule, you will know it has not been accurate.
Sorry, don’t want to write a novel here. Just trying to add a comment when I think it adds some value.
Carol - now that I know it was a power washer and not a generator, I can say that I haven’t heard the generators running here at Divi since we arrived. They have solar panels but usually you don’t run directly off of them and instead use them to charge batteries. I doubt Divi has a battery setup that is sufficiently large enough to run everything here uninterrupted. My family members staying at Royal Palm did say that their power briefly went off around 1:30 yesterday.
