We will be in St. Martin for two weeks in February and would like to take the flight to St. Barts for a day. I have read you can fly from Grand Case on a small plane. Does anyone here have the link for that airline, and also any tips for activities once we reach St. Barts? We would like to see St. Jean beach, and enjoy a nice lunch somewhere.
Thanks for any advice.
Cheers,
Markis

Below is a link. Take lots of $$. We went once, many years ago, nice beaches but I have no desire to go back.

There may be other options as well.

ST BARTH COMMUTER

St Barth Commuter (SBC) out of Grand Case is less expensive than Winair out of Juliana, if only for the departure fees. Winair has more flights, SBC is less expensive. Your choice.

Taxis are expensive, more so over the course of a day than a one-day rental car. On the other hand, parking in Gustavia is awful.

If by a nice lunch on St Jean you’re looking for something upscale then consider lunch at the Eden Rock hotel. If you’re looking for more of a party atmosphere then Nikki Beach. If you’re looking for high-end shopping, then Gustavia. My suggestion would be to fly over from Grand Case in the morning, rent a car (Gumbs or Top-Loc), take a drive around the island (counterclockwise or you may get stuck in Gustavia before you figure out the way out) and just follow the coast. It’s hard to get lost on an 8 sq mi island. Valet your rental at Eden Rock, melt the numbers on your credit card, and take an afternoon flight back to Grand Case.

thanks for the tips. We actually considered going there for a week but I just can't justify the expense, so we thought maybe go for a day and see what it's all about. We have traveled around the Caribbean for many years and St. Barts always seemed to be the pinnacle that people talked about. I guess it's just kind a bucket list sort of thing. We will probably be like you all and decide it's not for us. We are beach bar, and hanging with locals kind of people.

The closest thing to a beach bar on St Jean would be La Plage restaurant at the Pearl Beach Hotel on St Jean. There’s a free municipal parking lot diagonally across from the hotel. It’s more down to earth than the other party places on St Jean - Nao, Nikki, La Guérite, and Gyp Sea. You would probably like ‘Ti Corail on Grand Cul de Sac, but it is so tiny that getting in there without a reservation is impossible, and the parking is equally impossible.

Def fly over, have a taxi driver give you an island tour, get dropped in Gustavia for some shopping if you want. Then get taxi to take you to Gyp-Sea for late lunch and beach. (Used to be Tom Beach) all on St Jean but closest to airport and You can walk back to airport from there. Makes for a nice beach day!!!
