My dogs are not chipped. We are going to Nova Scotia with our dogs so I will be chpping both of our dogs before the trip. We brought two dogs from SXM to the USA no problem.
This is something we have been thinking about if we were to do a multi month trip but our dog at his lightest is 25lbs, and note we are coming from Portland Oregon. What are the options? I have read several of the airline pet policies and I don't see how we can do this other than on a private jet with out going the service dog route. I wouldn't think twice about purchasing a FC seat for our dog.
Todd--Unless you can afford private jet, no real options. Depending on time of year and expected high temperatures, you can put a dog in cargo. I would personally never do that in a million years for a vacation. "Service dog" has to be a LEGITIMATE service dog, which I have to assume your dog would not qualify. Purchase of a first class seat is not an option for a dog.
SXMscubaguy of course rabies is a serious concern and both my dogs have been vaccinated. When I used the phrase it is a joke I was referring to the CDC not allowing puppies into the USA and requiring microchips! It turns out one of my dogs is microchipped but the vet scanner showed useless information on the chip. This is just to travel outside the USA and need to return with all documents for our fur babies. That is why I said it is a joke! Now this microchip has to be updated and my other dog has to be microchipped.
This is just a beta test. First they come after our dogs and we are next. The jab was a chip which gives off a mac address. Don’t believe me do the research. You all have been chipped like a dog.
