We are flying MSY-MIA-EIS. Has anyone had problems checking a large hard sided suitcase with the MIA-EIS route? I can keep it under 50 lbs. It’s a 28inch American Tourister. 30” L x 19.5 W x 14 D

We check a hard-sided suitcase, but maximum is 62".

Your bag is 63.5 inches which exceeds the 62” limit. Having said that I have never had an agent measure for that if it looks close. They generally are hard over on the 50lb rule. Either rule if they invoke it means take out a home equity line of credit!

It would be safer to get a slightly smaller suitcase. That’s a jumbo size check in.

Thanks for the info. We have plenty of duffels just needed something hard sided. I'll look into the moving boxes.

The Samsonite duffels are very light, cheap, and exactly the maximum permitted size. We burn the boxes, so no bag charges coming back.

I have same flights in December for four of us. Previous trips were SJU to EIS (Cape Air), or AA to STT, then ferry. For December '24, flight times and cost favored MSY-MIA-EIA on AA, curious to know how it goes. Have a great trip!

We did the MIA to EIS last June. It’s a very nice trip. Great not having to go through SJU.

Unfortunately we had to postpone our trip. Looking to rebook late Oct. or early Nov. But the flights are already looking better for that time of year.
