Rancho del Sol--dunno. TOOOOOO far to walk. I'm bad with distances, but I'd say at least a couple of miles, maybe 3?? You can't get there except by road. Petit Casino is walkable down Orient, if you're a walker, which I am not. Maybe a half mile?? Again, I am horrible with distances. Boat tours to WHERE from Orient Bay? I'm actually not sure there are any boats which pick up passengers in Orient anymore. Are you looking specifically for a nude cruise?

And please consider not walking back on the beach after dark... its a long distance without any beach bars or activity along that last stretch.
Lights out is around 630pm.

Canuxx--right--I would be hard pressed to advise walking on the beach after dark anywhere on island, except within your home resort.

I definitely would rule out Rancho. You would need to walk on the road rod a couple of miles…too dangerous. We stayed numerous times at Mt Vernon and walked most days to Club O area. We are not young, but in good health and enjoy walking. It would take about 15-20 minutes to reach exit casino. That is a lovely walk, especially before 9 a.m. when the beach is still pretty empty. Enjoy!

Here are links to two businesses that routinely operate boats from Orient Beach: https://www.residence-adam-eve.com/en/sailing-cruise-sxm/https://www.wind-adventures.com/en/There certainly are many other boats that will pick you up on Orient, if you arrange it and pay for it. I would guess that whoever you rent lodging from will have recommendations for boat tours/rental from Orient.

I agree that you wouldn't want to do the walk after dark, but depending on your fitness, you could walk to Rancho Del Sol from Mt Vernon for a mid-day meal. You can take the paved road (2.8 km, or 1.75 miles - 38 minute walk according to Google), or there is a trail that you can take from the beach that quickly turns into a dirt road that goes on the south side of the pond (Etang Chevrise) that is a bit shorter. Either way, there would be a significant hill to climb. A certain level of fitness is needed, but you don't need to be an athlete.

jaxon--I echo bostonbob's comment--even if one could do that walk to Rancho, it would be dangerous. And for what? Honestly, it's a lovely view but there are a million other restaurants, (OK, not literally) that are a much closer walk, if one simply HAS to walk to a restaurant. I would hope that the OP will be renting a car regardless.

Carol, I guess everyone's comfort level is different. We have walked from the village to Super U at Hope Estate many times, and up to Rancho Del Sol for meals. My point was only to answer the OP's question on walking distance to Rancho Del Sol. They may have a different opinion with regard to restaurants in the village than you and may want to go to Rancho Del Sol.
With regard to a car, we have been going for years (not as many as you, but since 2010) and have never rented a car. We walk of use the local buses and, for us, that works fine.
