Would help to ask questions on what you are looking for. The Boon is right on a great stretch of beach. Food is good. Most rooms are pretty good, but vary on location. Stay away from the sub grade rooms, very little light and clausterphobic.

As Ed says, it's hard to know what you wish to learn, but we stayed there for 11 nights last June in upstairs studio room, which was fine. Vibes are great, all staff were lovely and helpful. Beach was wonderful when the sargassum was not there. They did rake it up as much as possible. I see why everyone loves it, but for us, it was not private enough for a long stay. We would go back for a few days at a time, but not for a week or more, as we prefer condos or Airbnbs with more private balconies and just more privacy in general. We also always rent a car and spend most of our days at various beaches around the island, so we don't spend a lot of time at their beach space, which is typically pretty busy.

Definitely a unique Caribbean style property. Beautiful gardens and property and almost every room is different from the others. About half of the rooms are beach front with in a few steps to the water the other rooms not much farther away. As said they have 4 or 5 rooms that are half below sand level , they do have a small window up top so not a lot of light but they are fairly large rooms and cool and quiet and good price budget rooms. I think they have 2 mini rooms very small but cheap rates. Probably around 35 rooms in total. Nice restaurant and good prices, we like the tuna tartare and most of the other fish is good too but I nice selection. It’s been there since about the 70’s but most of the rooms have been built or replaced within the past 15 years or newer and more rooms being upgraded every year. Very friendly staff, problem is they have a very good repeat following so sometimes it’s hard to get a reservation. Most love it but it’s not for everyone if you looking for Las Vegas style or big modern resort. Oh and they do have a big generator for the entire property. Very nice vibe for sure.

We have stayed there multiple times with our first time booking in a basement room. As soon as we saw the room we switched to a garden studio. We have also stayed in a beachfront studio and a beachfront one bedroom. One of our sons was married on the beach in front of The Boon. When we first went there was an honour bar but as time passed I guess they had less honourable guests and now there is a bartender. Food is good, drinks are great and the beach is gorgeous. Very laid back place and a great place to unwind.

MB has an old Caribbean charm to it that is hard to find on SXM. If you don't want to do any cooking, and you want hotel front desk services and a restaurant, it's an excellent choice on a lovely beach. I am with lbsurf though, I want more privacy and more room and I want to do a lot of cooking (think grilling, etc., nothing elaborate), so I much prefer Beachside Villas. I haven't seen all of the rooms there at MB, but I think the vast majority are studios, and there are no private balconies, per se, although many of the rooms do face the beach. K or Karakter, or whatever they call it now, is right next door, so that's another nice option to walk to.

Pretty soon most of the rooms have that much, although most do not have true cooking facilities. Just confirm with the resort when booking.

Yes all of the rooms have a small kitchenette with Microwave, small fridge , coffee maker and hot plate. The 1 and 2 bedroom condos have a full kitchen with standard size fridge, stove and oven etc. Over the years we have stayed at every property on Simpson Bay and what we like is the fact that everything we need and and somethings that we don't think we would need like a generator and staff to help Mary Boon has. Actually quite a few rooms do have private patios or balcony's. The 3 end beachfront rooms have small patios with loungers and I know the 1 and two bedrooms have nice size patios or balcony. I think that honor bar went away around in 2006 for so. I really would rather not work, even to mix my own drinks. Maybe if you look at their website ,which thing the photos are horrible and don't do it justice you might be able to see the patios etc.

We loved our first stay at Mary’s Boon last September.

We stayed in Beachfront Unit #14.

Here’s a picture of the kitchenette.

We have stayed at MB’s twice. Once for 2 nights before our timeshare and once for 2 nights after. I think it’s great for a couple of nights but think there are better options for a full week… but that’s just my opinion.
