FRIDAY
So, the electric went off this morning at 3 AM and did not come back on until 5 AM, which made for an interrupted sleep. The day dawned still, without a breeze, so we just turned the a/c on in the living room for the day. Breakfast was some bacon and toast and strawberries.

We took some pictures of the gardens, which are really lovely this year.

There was absolutely no new seaweed this morning, so the guys were able to take the day off from raking, which was nice for them.

[Linked Image]

They work so hard!! Around 10 a little shower came up for about 5 minutes, the only rain we have had during the day so far. Headed to my 'office' to finish my current book today.

Saba was clearer today than we had seen it, so that was lovely.

[Linked Image]

We were able to see two other small islands, but I never know which ones they are. The ocean the past two days has been spectacularly beautiful.

[Linked Image]

We went over to Maho and picked up a couple small items, including one of their pre-made sandwiches. Cheap and hit the spot for lunch, along with some chips and other munchies. This trip, we just haven't been that hungry most of the time.

After a hard afternoon in my “office”, it was time for dinner. We decided on the Greenhouse, which is reliable, with decent food.

I had the philly cheesesteak
[Linked Image]

and Eric had the reuben.

[Linked Image]

Both were good, solid sandwiches, with decent fries, about a 3.5 on the Fry-O-Meter. There was a bit of a rainstorm while we were eating, but it stopped before we left. Headed back home for a bit of TV and then bed. We're boring!

SATURDAY

So, unfortunately this morning Saba is GONE and the seaweed is BAAACK. We still see a bunch more coming in the water. But they are out there again this morning raking, despite the task which seems impossible. They have been busting their @sses this week, while next door I have not seen anyone rake even once. Can't imagine they are getting too many people on the beach, looking like that. Oh and by the way, someone said there is live music every Friday night there, but definitely not last night or last Friday night. Last night around 8 there were maybe 2 cars in the parking lot. We have not been over there at all, not sure if we will.

So, we hung around here this morning, and did a lot of nothing. Then we headed over to meet Lancer from TTOL over on Orient for lunch. Just as we were coming up on Rancho del Sol, the traffic came to a halt. We weren't sure what that was all about, until we eventually discovered the source! Quite a big group of goats!

What fun!

The parking behind Orange Fever, etc., was pretty jammed, but we ended up finding a spot. Unfortunately I could not find a table where a fan was blowing, so we were seated outside, under cover, of course. Very soon, Don and Marilyn showed up and we enjoyed a lovely lunch.

Here are the specials.

[Linked Image]

They had lobster rolls, which was one of the specials.

I had a pepperoni pizza

[Linked Image]

and Eric had mahi mahi, which came with fries, although they don't show in the picture.

[Linked Image]

After my extremely disappointing experience with Pizza Italy, this pizza was pretty darn good, and I snagged a few of Eric's french fries, which I pronounced about a 4 on the Fry-o-meter scale. Eric enjoyed his lunch and we both enjoyed the refreshing Cote du Provence rose. Unfortunately, it got very warm and there was no air moving, so we all decided to bring it to a close. They went back to the beach for a swim, and we headed to our air conditioned car.

We headed back to the Dutch side through Orlean and passed by Le Suciere. We were planning on probably staying in on Sunday, due to it being Father's Day. We figured all the restaurants would be slammed and we are too lazy to make reservations. So we plan on eating dinner in. We brought some nice steaks from home, so will have those, along with a nice Beaujolais, and some yummy desserts we picked up, cheesecake and chocolate eclairs.

Greenhouse is one of our go to places for good food and service. An easy walk for us from Flamingo, We always request to have Odessa as our server. Last time there I wanted that Rubin but they were out of it. After seeing Eric's it'll be on my order for next trip. Not very often there is a picture posted of you. Good going. clapping Orange Fever puts together a great pizza. Wife usually gets one and I opt for the French Burger. So good.

Sounds like a good 2 days. Orange Fever has been good for us and I had the Philly cheesesteak at Greenhouse in March, pretty tasty.

Scuba--I asked Don and Marilyn to post a picture of them, so they asked to take ours.

Yes, JD, a good couple of days.

Your reports are always fun to read. I think my last one was a bit long, so I’m going to streamline things going forward smile Thanks for the meet up. It was fun meeting you both.

Nah, I really don't think there is such a thing as too long a report. Good to meet you!

Thanks for the pictures and report Carol!

Sorry the power interruptions are continuing but it sounds like you’re adapting and enjoying your time anyway. We’re going to have to give Greenhouse a try on our next trip. That cheesesteak looks good!

Enjoy!

Ben--Yes, despite some "blips", it's been a good trip. Heading home today.

As far as the Greenhouse, they have Happy Hour every day until 7 PM. All drinks are 2 for 1--NOT half price, but 2 for 1. If you are your companion drink the same thing, it's great. They do bring them both at the same time. Also, all apps before 7 are $2 off.

Any word on how long the power interruptions will continue?

From what I am reading, no one knows, but it looks like it's a good bet to last well into the fall.

WOW, That was a quick trip.
We also enjoy the Greenhouse and were able to find parking this last trip.
The food is always good and the waiters are very nice.
Your sandwiches look great.

Orange Fever has become a favorite of ours--we enjoy lunch and the beach there.

We will be staying on the French side the first 5 days in November, so it will be nice to try the restaurants without the traffic.

Your photos are amazing--thanks for sharing.

Works for us as we both drink wine and our server puts the second order in right before 7 for us. Safe travels too.

Terri--yes, there was parking 'up the hill' when we went. If we hadn't found parking, we wouldn't have stayed.

You're welcome.

Scuba--yes, if you drink the same thing, it's fine. Thanks.

Enjoyed your reports and the photos! I really need to work on that! We usually hit LeString when on Orient. After all the good reviews, we may have to give Orange Fever a try in July. We also enjoy the Greenhouse -- but the one in Philipsburg. It's a short walk after Church on our first night. Good food and the service is always with a smile. Hope the airport goes well and you have a safe flight home....

Thank you for all your reports and giant pictures. We also stop at the Greenhouse for dinner multiple times every visit. They do bring my 2 for 1 beers at the same time, but they make sure my second one stays cold.
Safe travels.

crsxm--we generally go to Le String, but decided on Orange Fever this time. We've been there before and it was good, and truthfully, I probably wanted the pizza, as much as anything, as the reason why we went! smile We didn't even go to P'burg this year, as we often don't. Our flight is delayed a bit, not much, as the incoming flight is delayed from Miami. I just hope that it is not further delayed, but we will see.

WhaleTail--Thanks for your pictures, over various trips. Thanks for the good wishes.

Looks like the MIA flight AA2240 is delayed departure from MIA until 1504p from 1159a..... and AA 456 is on time arrival and departure

What a nice couple of days! And your pictures are lovely too. BSV has such beautiful grounds.

Orange Fever is a favorite of ours. JC is a fun and very friendly waiter. Marc always orders the Pepperoni Pizza and I usually order from the specials board, The lobster roll would’ve been my pick if we were there now.
