Just got an email from AA telling me to expect issues with our flights to and from MIA on Friday due to the weather and ongoing flooding event there. Offering a free cancel or change, but I'm not seeing anything doable even connecting thru other airports.
I checked flight tracker to see what gates my flights had been using the past couple of days, and Flt 1136 scheduled at 10:05 finally pushed at 11:38, and was still in line for take-off almost 3 hours later. Probably needed the gate, but what a drag sitting on the plane all that time. Flight tracker says flights into MIA are being held at their origin an average of 4 1/2 hours.

Last year, despite my best advice,my brother connected through Miami on his way down (we are fortunate to several options from Boston) He was supposed to arrive Sunday afternoon at 2:00 - got in Monday night around 8:00 - and this was in good weather. Good luck! Hope you catch a break somehow.

Good luck, gomer! The AA flights leaving here seem to be leaving late, although I haven't been paying a lot of attention.

Miami is getting crushed with 5-6 inches of rain with flooding and 60 MPH winds....and rain forcasted for the next week +. Not a great connection airport right now

Thanks! Fingers crossed. When I booked this, the flight connecting in CLT only had 35 minutes between flights and I just wasn't comfortable with that. Headed down thru MIA has never been a problem..coming back, that's another story. 1136 @10:20am is still on the ground in Miami. Not canceled yet. Long day for folks waiting for it at PJIA.

AA 1136 finally took off..due into SXM just before 10pm. Wonder if they're going to try to turn it around tonight, or overnight it.

I was sacked out by 10 PM, didn't hear it land. I did a little walk around this morning at about 8 AM and didn't see any big planes over there, although I didn't expect to see any.

Something big just took off and I totally missed it. Nothing showing on the PJIA website or the AA website though for here to Miami until later.

AA cancelled DTW-MIA flight 1020 this morning, which is our flight tomorrow. MIA-SXM AA 1136 got out of Miami about an hour late, so it looks like flights are getting out, it's getting them in that's the issue. Flight tracker says inbound MIA flights are being held at their origin airport, about 6 hour delay. Hope the weather cooperates and they get it sorted.

Carol..waiting for a call back for a few hours now. The options online are brutal, 3 and 4 stops, 2+ days, etc. Lots of flyers impacted. My flights are still showing go as of this moment, but there's another huge blob on the radar headed for MIA. The key is if our flight for in the morning gets out of MIA tonight. Our SXM connection comes to MIA from JFK very early am tomorrow. Crews timing out and crews struggling to get to MIA with 95 and other major roads flooded is a big issue too.

gomer--please check in when you can. Looks like your flight to Miami arrived, but you probably missed the connection. Let us know.
