Saturday morning we had a simple breakfast of cheese and grapes and coffee and then finished putting our stuff away. We then headed to Super U, then to Carrefour and to Maho.
We got home around 11 AM and opened up the house, which was comfortable with a breeze blowing through. There has been a lot of seaweed coming in, but they have been raking constantly, although it seems like a futile quest, unlike next door, where they appear to have done nothing at all.
The water is much closer to the units here than we have seen for a while.
We cooked burgers on the grill for lunch, which were very good.
BTW, Eric did have shorts on, although you can't see them!
Around 1 PM the electric went off to we collected our stuff and went out to the pool for a couple of hours. There were several people there, including a couple that has been in #14 for 3 weeks. She said that they were from Sarasota, so we talked about Florida some. There were several other people in the pool and we talked and floated around and I read my book. We watched planes come and go but I was too lazy to get up and take any pictures. We had a good time talking with the folks there at the pool. Around 3 someone said the electric was back on, so we headed back to the room around 4 and cleaned up.
Neither one of us had slept very well the first night so we decided to have an early, simple dinner. We decided on Bar Code, which we had been to several times in the past and enjoyed. Jordan Village seemed very quiet, so I suspect AUC may be on break.
There was literally no one in the restaurant when we arrived around 6:30. It stayed that way until we were about to leave. Here is the menu.
Sorry for the quality of the picture.
We ordered a couple of glasses of wine and Eric ordered fish and chips. He said they were good. The fish looked a little over-fried to me, but Eric said it was just crispy. It was served with what I would call home fries.
My meal was not good. It was described on the menu as a grilled chicken breast with a mushroom sauce. The sauce was a tomato based sauce and it was awful.
The mushrooms were chopped up in little pieces and the sauce itself looked terrible. I have never heard of a red mushroom sauce . It was served with fries, which were about a 3 out of 5 on the fry-o-meter, and a very lackluster salad. There was only one waitress working and she was a nice lady. I called her over to look at the menu again, to see if I can misread the description on the menu. When looking at the menu, I noticed several items that the combinations just looked odd. My guess is that the chef is trying some unusual combinations, but I personally would not go back there again. I went to the restroom and without being specific, it's condition was not acceptable.
Just before we were leaving, a French couple came in with a couple of dogs, which I was able to pet, which saved my evening. I also enjoyed seeing several folks walking their dogs in the area. Missing our two puppies at home, that was nice. And while I loathe that 14 towers for being out of place in the area, the view from the restaurant over toward the water is nice, although this picture doesn't do it justice.
We drove by Fat Tony's as we left and noted that there appeared to be only two tables occupied.
We had an early night, and thus ended our first full day. Overall, it was a beautiful day and we enjoyed ourselves.
