Imagine that! Yesterday their "schedule" for load shedding for here in Beacon Hill was supposed to be 10 am to noon. According to Myra at AAA, electric was off from 1 PM to just after 3. Today, the 'schedule' for Beacon Hill says 11 AM to 1 PM. It's now noon and the electric is still on.

Oh, and I looked for a Daily Herald yesterday at Carrefour and could not find one. Turns out the DH didn't publish yesterday because of power outages.

Meanwhile, we went to Super U this morning for several things, and ended up going to Carrefour by the causeway and ended up having to go to the Maho market for hamburger dill pickles!!! Eric often gets hiccups and the only way he can get rid of them, it seems, is hamburger dill pickles! Last trip we had to make an 'emergency' trip to Maho for them. So we made sure we had them this time.

Today is a beautiful day, WARM, but breezy. We are going to cook burgers on the grill for lunch, once Vickey delivers the grill! smile They said it's coming soon..

Water is closer to the buildings here than we have seen in a while. There was a LOT of seaweed coming in the past couple of days, but the beach here is clean. Not so much for next door at D's, and CocoVaa. Seaweed is horrible there.

Will try to take a couple pictures here soon and upload, so long as we still have electric anyway.

OK, electric went out at 1, back on around 3:15. Just got back from a few hours at the pool. Going to relax a bit and then clean up to go out to dinner, thinking about Bar Code.

Have fun, how long do you stay for?

Hopefully you get some meals on the French side, recent reports have made the Dutch side food look pretty meh!

We are here until the 17th. We don't drive to the French side after dark much, but do plan on getting to Orient and possibly Grand Case or Marigot during the day.

Check out Bacchus in Hope Estate if you want a fancy lunch. Worth the hike and higher cost if you like French cooking, IMHO.

Great Wine shop and Deli as well.

Carol,
Funny fact, I have been told by a couple of the charter catamaran companies that they are also using dill pickles to help with motion sickness. 😃

so enjoy

Thanks for the recommendation. Bar Code was not great. The best part of the evening was seeing several dogs in that area. Missing my pooches at home!

We visit Bacchus on a cloudy day.
We treat ourselves to caviar which is not marked up and about the same price if you ordered it to enjoy at home except all the accompaniments are included.

Also have a unique sweet wine to accompany the trio of foie gras.

Wonderful service.

A great French meal although pricing is higher than most night time meals.

They have daily specials that seem more interesting the the regular menu.

Next door probably the biggest selection of wine on the island

Nov 2022 pricing and types of food.

Tipped 10€ plus change! Always a spicy topic here.

Carol if you make it to orient, would love to see any pics of the club o demolition work. Seeing Papagayo last November was pretty painful.

So Carol, you’re getting a taste of the frustrating daily life here. This morning we’ve been without power (Simpson Bay Yachr Club) for 4 hours so far. It’s 08.10 now, there was a one-second blip about 25 minutes ago. Maybe that’s enough to keep our meat frozen for the day.

Just this morning read an article saying that a tsp. of vinegar helps with hiccups. If it were me, a dill pickle would go down better than drinking vinegar--but any old port in a storm--they say.

When we go for lunch we like a nice view while we dine which Bacchus doesn't really have. That's just us though.

Ritchard--from 4 am to now? Wow. Today the electric is solid, up to now.

Jeepers--I'm with you, I prefer a view. Thinking about possibly Grand Case or Marigot.

For lunch la main a la pate is very nice. You can sit forever & relax. Some days you can see planes taking off & landing at airport. I will say their spaghetti Bolognese is enough for 2 people. Enjoy your trip! Happy anniversary ahead of time!

The load shedding schedule has NEVER been right in the past three weeks, according to a couple that is staying here. It certainly wasn't correct for either Friday or Saturday..

Yes. It was hit and miss for use too. Thank God for generators. I wonder how some of these restaurants can survive with out adequate power to refrigerate and keep their meats and produce fresh and safe.

La Petite Auberge in Marigot is very nice as well, if a view is needed. Be Kool is great as well, too bad it is closed for vacation.
