With the current problem with power generation on SXM, I'm curious if anyone knows if the Hilton Flamingo or Grand Case Beach Club have on-site generators? We are going to SXM later this month staying a week at each and I was just hoping...

French side has their own power supply and seems to be much more stable, assuming both large hotels would have some type of generator.

I can answer half of your questions, Flamingo definitely does have generators so no worries there. Have never stayed at GCBC yet, so don't know that one.

erb--Electric probably is more stable on the French side. Water supplies, on the other hand, not so much.

Grand Case Beach Club has its own generator as well as RO water supply. I'm just waiting for them to build their own rhum distillery.

Just returned from Flamingo. They have a great generator system that kicks on moments after GEBE cuts power. In addition they set out a text notifying when to expect it depending on GEBE's information reliability. Pretty quiet too.

This issue has become one that has gained importance with GEBE's unfortunate strained resources. Some resorts had enough vision to make the investment of getting generators. Some have not. It should be on your list of deciding where to stay on SXM.

Correct. Water supply much less stable on the French side.
