The wife got us a 2 night stay at a lovely AirBnB in Shannon for our 1 year Anniversary. We had a great weekend, thanks in large part to some fantastic recommendations from TTOL! Review of the weekend below:

Friday Night:
-5pm car barge VG -> Beef: Very convenient. Super nice to not have to unload all of our stuff, go through the process of renting a car, and then loading it all back up. At $120/round trip for our Mitsubishi Outlander it was also cheaper than 2 ferry tickets and renting a car for two days!
-8pm Capriccio's dinner in Road Town: I was really excited for this and might've over hyped it in my mind a little, thought it was quite good, but not great. It was certainly packed on a Friday night (the crowd was quite young FWIW) and I would go back. Just more like 4 stars instead of 5.

Espresso Martini: 8.9/10 (delicious)
Garlic Bread Appetizer: 8.1/10 (very good. maybe just the American in me here but I would've loved it served w/ some marinara sauce)
Ceasar Salad: 7.6/10 (I actually loved the flavors here. Just thought it was a bit heavy on the dressing)
Italian Meat Pizza: 7.1/10 (I'm not a big proscuitto fan, so take this with a grain of salt)
Penne Salsiccia: 6.7/10 (too heavy on the sausage IMO. We should've went with the bolognese)

Saturday:
-Breakfast at Omar's Cafe West End. This spot is awesome. Cold brew was delightful and my breakfast bagel w/ eggs, cheese and bacon equally as good. Think I'd go with the hangover bowl next time. Great setting right on the water

Cold Brew: 9.2/10
Breakfast Bagel: 9.1/10

-Spent the rest of the day at Smuggler's Cove hanging out with Patricia and Bushman thanks to the rec from this board. Mannnn, that might just be a new favorite spot in the whole BVI! I don't know if this is how it always goes, but they set us up with free lounge chairs and an umbrella, and took great care of us all day long. Best prices on the island. $4 beers, $8 margaritas (which are at least 50% tequila I might add holy crap ask for a light pour if that's not your style). And the food was delicious too!

Fish Tacos: 8.6/10 (next time I would ask if they can do them grilled instead of fried)
Fish Sandwich: 8.1/10
Fries: 9.0/10
Popcorn Chicken: 8.7/10

And then for the absolute highlight of the entire weekend, dinner at SugarMill. Probably my new favorite restaurant in the entire BVI? Ambiance was incredible (love the natural stone) and they had like 50+ real candles that were actually lit. The classic sign of a great spot! Service was amazing, food even better than that.

Fresh Bread: 10/10
Pate Foie Gras: 10/10
Filet: 10/10

Sunday:
-Brunch at Tramonti. Awesome venue right on the water, $20 bottomless mimosas which we certainly got our money's worth on. My pizza was pretty meh, think I should've went with the Eggs Benedict instead. Everyone elses food looked awesome though. We had a great brunch and then hung out on the beach and in the water after for the rest of the afternoon.

Thanks for the great recs TTOL. Especially Patricia's and SugarMill!

We first met Patricia in 2002 when she made frozen drinks from a blender hooked to a car battery👍 Great ribs and fresh warm potato salad😇

Jealousy doesn't begin to describe my emotional response to this post. (I too one day dream of "vacationing" on Tortola to get a brief "respite" from the "monotony" of Virgin Gorda, maybe when I "grow up")

Seriously, thanks for sharing!! Great report, sounds and looks like a wonderful weekend and great way to celebrate an anniversary.

How was the airBnB?
