We had friends fly in this afternoon and they wanted to go to BBB. We joined them and the ribs were fantastic. So were the plantains and Johnny cakes. Good music and fabulous sunset.

Will be in Simpson Bay (Royal Palms) in 3 weeks - will have to make this my Monday Night Plan for the AYCE. Saturday on arrival likely hit up Dinghy for mussel night.
Most trips I am at OBBR so have to take advantage of all the restaurants/bars that I can walk to on this trip.

Great pic. I've had their plantains and enjoyed them.

We stopped by there just before HH. Drinks were small!! I'm leery about going for a meal!!! BBB use to be our go to place for good bar food!! I loved that Pirate pizza!! What I understand, that SSBB, New Sandbar and BBB are all owned by the same people!! I will save all of you the waste of money on drinks at Sandbar and SSBB TOO !!! Seemed the new Sandbar is only interested in serving locals, walked out the second time. SSBB knows the cashcow ships where they stick it to them hard! $9.00 for a SIX OUNCE rum punch filled with ice!! It's a long story how we ended up at SSBB!! Want good drinks good beach bar food. Try D's Beach Bar SXM on White Sands road next to BSV!! They have a really cool observation deck you can bring your drinks and watch the sunset and the planes come in and go!! Nice people too! I like the glassware too! Rum punch was really good, not a premix!!

Sorry to hear about the poor experience at the Sandbar -- we enjoyed going there for a drink and quick bite. We will have to give D's a try!

Let me tell you, when Sandbar first opened. We were there many times! Good food, good drinks! Live music! We brought friends there. Had a GREAT time!! Went there this past April. Sat down at the bar. I like the new bar, and location! We were one of three people. I had to call the bartender from the end of the bar, she saw us sit down! Finally she comes over. Made good drinks, time for a refill. Same thing, had to call her over, same three people at the bar! BUT we were not locals, dressed for an evening out to dinner! Second time, TOTALLY IGNORED!!! Two people at the bar! Walked out!! I'm in the service industry, I will NOT tolerate bad service anywhere!!! The bartender at SSBB told me that they now own Sandbar! We took it off the list! Really sad about this! It was a fun place close to Beachside!!!

Maybe its just us but on SXM you don't find many if any restaurants that have a very professional or polished staff. Just not much trained staff around it seems plus staff is still hard to find. Many have that Island go slow attitude, really don't thing they know they are being rude or even care. Sandbar was good...not so much now I guess. Still a couple of good option on Simpson for food. Was I bit surprised that last time I walk down towards BSV that those buildings and area seem to be getting a bit run down looking. I guess Island climate is not good on paint etc. IMO

Forever--really? Any time you can put down Beachside or any other hotel along Simpson Bay other than Mary's Boon, you do it.

" I guess Island climate is not good on paint etc. IMO"
That is why Royal Palm and Flamingo just completed repainting with self cleaning paint. We'll see how that holds up.

Oh geez..Yes really! Do you not think so? Not a "put down" just my observation. Have you looked around down there recently ?? Looks a bit rundown down and was shocked to see how close the water is to the buildings foundation now. Not even sure what the building was....more like a big house. It been a few years since we stayed there and I remember at least a little sand in front. ANY? NO. And did I name anyone one property ...since your there Maybe walk around that end of the beach then towards Marys Boom or Horney Toad, CoCos condos which obviously better kept properties (but not perfect) and see what you think. But that just MY personal thoughts....but its an island so who cares. Understand you being obviously touchy about BSV since they advertise and need speak up for them but maybe for fun might be time for you to chill out and widen your horizons . IMO smile We Love Love BSV too! just delete anything you don't like..its your football.

That "big house" has nothing to do with BSV. And as far as very close to the water, that isn't exactly up to the business. Sand comes and goes. And YES, we travel about the island when we visit. Mary's Boon is a lovely old time resort, but it's not "all that", like you think. Cocos cost a whole lot more than BSV. I would love to stay at a private villa every time, but money is a consideration.
