Hi,

I had a look at Sharon's site but didn't see anything about data over 3G/4G.

We may want to get a data plan for our tablets if we end up in a place without internet.

I found this site
http://wiredsailor.com/3g-4g/
that indicates Chippie has 3G data plans available.

I am wondering if anyone has used that service in the Orient Village area and how it worked.

The other question is about Chippie data service. I have noticed on my tablet that, depending on the service provider, tethering may not be available. For example on the Bell, Rogers & Telus networks in Canada, I can set up tethering through my tablet, but using my prepaid AT&T plan, the option to tether, is not available.

I am wondering if anyone has used a Chippie data plan and been able to tether using it.

Thanks!

Chippie does now have 3G data all over the island but I am not sure about tethering since 3G here is not 3G in the US. I did have a customer use his iPad with a Chippie 3G Sim & he was able to connect to it with his phone so I guess it was working as a hot spot. Chippie is the only data that will work the same all over the island since Telcel roams on the French side & you cannot use the data there.

I have just gotten in some smart phones that we are putting 3G Sims in so that anyone who wants data, WiFi plus other apps like Facebook, etc. will have that choice. Those phones will rent for more per week ($35.00 for the first week & $20.00 for each additional week) then the small little phones I have. We just got them & are setting them up which is why they are not on the website as yet. We do sell & or rent 3G Sims for any customer who wants one.

That is great news Sharon.

If your client was able to turn his phone into a hotspot, that's what I meant by tethering.

Knowing that we can get 3G data adds flexibility for us when looking for an apartment as I noticed many in the Orient Village area do not offer internet.

Thanks!

Actually he put the Sim in his iPad & then connected his phone to the iPad...Do not believe what you read on the other site because Telcell is not working for data on the French side. I was over there today & nada but Chippie does have data all over.

Your welcome!!
