Today was Chrissy’s birthday, and a big reason for this trip! We met Wendy at Dany’s and walked over to Rendezvous for a wonderful afternoon of jazz. Went back to Dany’s then headed to Sublime for an early dinner. 3 of our 4 took advantage of the happy hour priced appetizers for dinner (tuna tartare, shrimp tempura and spinach ravioli) but the birthday girl ordered filet mignon and proclaimed that it was better than what she had at Jax the previous evening. Today will be an RI pool day, as we have another friend arriving this afternoon.

Did you have any problems with gratuity at Sublime? Some people had been reporting getting hassled for extra tip, on top of 15% auto tip.

Not at all. Two people we were with go there often and know the staff very well. I’m sure that it ended up being about a 25 - 30% tip that we left (including service charge). Service was top notch!

OK. I personally would never tip that much, regardless of how good the service is, but I guess that's just me.

There is the problem. It just makes the wait staff expect more than the SC they tack on. When a SC is added on, that's all they get from me.

I can't agree more. We ate at Sublime two weeks ago, and i did have the filet there. If that wasn't the BEST steak i ever ate, it would definitely be in the top three!! Few days later, had the filet at Jax. Jax was very good also, but it wasn't anywhere as memorable as the Sublime one will be!!!! My wife RAVED about the lamb chops she had from Sublime, and a friend of ours joined us, but honestly can't remember exactly what she ordered...but also loved it. Would highly recomend
