The cruise schedule indicated three ships would be in port. One of them Icon of the sea. With so many passengers diverging to Sunset Bar & Grill we wanted to get take-away to bring to Villa and stay put in the daylight hours.
Drove to La Sucrière in Cole Bay but thought the options for lunch were limited . They had appealing pastries with recently baked baguettes coming off the racks. They have a big outdoor patio overlooking marina if you want to eat there. I got a croissant and a small ham and cheese quiche. Not satisfied with the premade sandwich selection we went to Maho Market hoping the hot self serve bar had takeaway food. At 7:45a the self serve buffet bar had no food ready. I went to the deli counter and asked for a ham & cheese sandwich which one of the workers made in front of me. Nothing special but it sufficed. Hardly any ham or cheese, little lettuce, tomato slices with a smear of mayo.
We should have stuck with what we enjoy at Zee Best on Airport Road where they make sandwiches or wraps made to order.
We spent a relaxing day on site at Beachside Villas. It was a mostly sunny and warm day. There was some cloud coverage midafternoon which cleared in about an hour returning to a sunny day. The water on Simpson Bay was calm with very little waves. No Sargassum in the water.
It was hot out in the sun so we took frequent breaks to shelter from the sun on our deck.
Fat Tony’s has a Tuesday night steak special, $23 for a 12 oz sirloin, 2 sides and a buttered dinner roll. I ordered the steak medium, and it came as ordered with a mushroom gravy. For my sides I selected their “famous potato salad”and a mixed salad with a balsamic dressing on the side. I was very pleased with the taste of the steak, and the potato salad was very good. David ordered the Philly cheesesteak sandwich with fries for $13. Tipping is at your discretion.
Live music was available this evening. There was a duo, one gentlemen playing the steel drums with a main vocalist. They both entertained the lively crowd. The restaurant was at least 60% full. We enjoyed the music and our meals. A very reasonably priced dinner tonight.
Louise--sounds like a good day, despite somewhat bland lunch options. I totally agree that sounds like a day to avoid Sunset, with 3 ships in. It makes me nervous to drive by there, with all the idiots hanging around in the road. I wonder, I have never tried it, but have you ever tried the delivery options? I forget the name of the company, but that might be a good option on a big cruise ship day.
