I always go to St. Maarten on my vacation, but thinking about trying the Virgin Islands. I have a timeshare trade with RCI and I am curious as to what resorts would be the best. Looking for an area that is close to Things to do in the evening.

Could somebody please tell me which resorts through RCI are good and which ones are bad.

All I can say is we use II and have put in requests for all STT properties and never got one timeshare. We are also very flexible and entered multiple travel dates. Beware there are some marginal timeshare properties in STT.

All of the Bluebeard resorts in St. Thomas and Charlotte Amalie, Club Villa Azul in St. Thomas. In St. Croix - Crambola Beach, Cheenet Bay, Club St. Croix, and the Divi's in St. Croix. There are others but they're all inclusive and I do not do all-inclusive.

I have never heard of Villa Azul, if that tells you anything. Bluebeard's has two spots: One on the old Lime Tree Beach called Bluebeard's Beach Club and one above town, Bluebeard's Castle. Of the two, the Castle has two top-rated restaurants on the premises but you'll need a car for beaches, etc. The Beach Club is fairly remote, has a new restaurant, but I haven't heard much about it. I haven't seen the rooms in either, but would pick the Castle for the stellar views and convenience.

Villa Azule is Pools and Pavilions. Hmm. I can't tell if they operate ALL the units there or exactly what the deal is. Anyway, they are semi-freestanding units with personal pools. If you want privacy, that would be a plus. No view, close to Red Hook. From the website, it looks the the insides have been redone.

Thank you for your response. Yes the castle sounds like my kind of place. Did not want a remote location and wanted something convenient that you don't have to travel too far at night if you wanted to go out for a drink or dinner. I would rather travel during the day to the beach.

Thanks again.

We had Christmas Eve dinner at Banana Tree Grille, one of the two restaurants on the property. It was delicious and we had great service. The other restaurant is Room With a View. There is a less formal bar/restaurant there as well. You don't have to leave at night if you don't want. But Frenchtown isn't far away, nor Yacht Haven Grande.
