This place seems to have died off a lot over the years, very few posts per day. Did people move to a different forum?

Is there a reason things have fallen off? Did the hurricane impact it?

Facebook. BVI Charter Chat and Abroad groups. Fair warning they can be snaky, snarky and downright evil in posting. This is a trusted community. I MUCH prefer it here.

Totally agree. FB has more posts but less useful information.

Agree , less posts here but less drama and negativity also. This forum has existed for many years , years before Facebook craziness …disclaimer I am a part of those groups too. It can be entertaining albeit nuts at times . People love to hate . I try to interject some love and positivity when I can

Completely agree. I have dropped all social media except this one. Those that post way more than I do are full of useful and helpful information. Even if they repeat themselves multiple times without being snarky. I come on here to get away from politics and rudeness. There is enough of that on TV. Reading all your posts about my favorite place on earth keeps me going until I am able to go again.

First of all, I agree with everyone that this forum is excellent! Thanks very much to Carol and Eric for maintaining it and keeping it under control. And thanks to all of you who participate, for being interesting, informative, fun, and civil.

Regarding the drop-off of traffic -- I haven't been to the BVI since 2017, due to Irma/Maria, Covid, and life in general. So I haven't had much fresh info to post. I'm not sure if other folks are in a similar position. I do hope to make it back soon, and I still check in here every day to keep up with events and live vicariously.

Dan cheers

Same here. Life got in the way. We haven't been since 2015. I had to have back surgery immediately following that trip. Back seized up in NS, I ended up spending a couple of nights at Leverick to let the muscle relaxers and painkillers do their thing while the rest of the crew went to Anegada (my favorite place on earth) without me. Long story short, we then moved from MD to Florida, found new jobs, started a family, COVID, the hurricanes, etc, etc. I really wanted to go back as soon as things opened up again following IrMaria, but it just wasn't in the cards for us at that point in time.

One thing I will say, and this is just my impression as I obviously haven't been there in a while, but it does seem like (if I may generalize here for a moment) the people who charter in the BVI has also changed a bit over time. As the boats have gotten newer and more expensive, the percentage of power cats and cats in general in the fleet have risen dramatically, and the folks who charter in the BVI it seems to me have tended more toward the CC captain and less the seasoned sailor looking for secluded anchorages and "secret spots".

Hope none of that offends, just spitballing trying to answer the original question.
