What are the food options for departing passengers now? If I remember correctly there aren’t many good choices. Daughter and son in law are leaving with their two little ones tomorrow and would like to have something for them to eat for the 6:30 Sun Country flight. Is the Subway still around?

Last week there was just a small bistro where you could get sandwiches and a Domino's. There were also a couple of stands that sold ice cream and snacks. Did not see anything else.

I don't know where you're staying, but the Deli in Maho makes incredible sandiches.

And really good pastries as well. The young chef is French and has told us "Just tell me what you want and I'll make it for you". Next time I'm there I'm going to ask him where he learned his skills.

We flew out yesterday. Arrived at the airport around 12:15. Got through checking luggage, passport control, and security with no problem. And even found 2 seats on the upper floor to wait for our AA 3:06 flight (which actually took off around 3:35). As Mikel said, there was only a carry out Domino's and La Bistro, both small and crowded as expected. And a small bar, not cennected, also with a long line. We didn't try either of them. Nor did we bother to check out the far end where the shops were.

We were there yesterday, and Dominos was out of pizza! They did have boneless chicken wings that my husband got and I ordered the chicken Alfredo, which was not too bad. We wondered why there was no line. As others have said, I'd pick something up to take with us if we were leaving from SXM. We flew from Statia and just didn't have enough time to leaved the airport.

Just another example of the bungling of the reconstruction process.

Thanks much for the quick feedback. They’d better pick up something in advance.

We ate at the bistro next to Domino’s and the ham and cheese on a baguette wasn’t bad.

I guess one shouldn't be surprised that there are so few options at the airport to eat, as everything else about this project has been screwed up. But these are presumably private businesses, who are losing money every day they are not open. Why is it taking so long for more places to be open? I guess that's a rhetorical question, as no one knows.

People who are going through there, do they seem to be working on more places to eat? What about Johney Burgers? (SP!) They were doing a great job there. And does it look like they are working on a real bar?? That bar downstairs was the best part of the airport, since Irma.

Perhaps the food vendors are not offering enough "incentive" to either airport or government officials to get the businesses open. Sadly, it all falls in line with how this project has been all along.

JD--could be. If anyone has any info as to why this is taking so long to get food vendors open, I surely would love to know.

I was under the impression that the Burger place was open from a prior post on another thread.

If you bring some sandwiches with you, can you take them through security?

Scuba--I don't know. I don't remember anyone mentioning it.

DSSS--Sandwiches, certainly. Soda, etc., no.

Bringing something with you is definitely the safest. We flew out yesterday and Dominos was out of PIZZA!! They had chicken tenders and chicken alfredo.... we got those and they were ok. We were flying from Statia and did not have time to leave the airport. If flying from SXM, I definitely would get something to take with me. The Bistro line was huge.

Yes, you can bring sandwiches through security, but no drinks, anrd we did not see a water fountain in the airport. We left a few weeks ago and the Domino's had no pizza then, and it was pretty earliy, all they had were wings and chicken alfredo, so seems like they are having a regular problem with pizza. Zee Best does not have much in the way of parking, but they are on the road to the airport and we got sandwiches there.

barry--there has not been a water fountain at the airport since Irma, possibly before?

Carol. I found it surprising that in a fairly modern airport - at least the second floor, there is no water fountain. I don't like carrying a full bottle of water, so in the US, I carry an empty bottle through security ( never had an issue there ) and fill it part way at the airport once I have gone through security.

barry--I always do the same. And yes, the airport in SXM should have a water fountain.

Just a note. You don't have to take the empty water bottle out of carry on as the technology can tell if it's empty or not. That's been my experience with TSA. Not sure about PJIA.
