And I'm out of the dog house (for now) clapping. We went to Maho today and visited our favorite jeweler at
J&N Jewelers and Mrs Whale Tail got a very nice ring cry. We will pick it up next week after they set the
"stone" in place. I will never post a picture of her again without her permission. Lesson learned.

I'm sure everyone has their favorite jewelry store but this one is our favorite. When I'm trying to negotiate a price and Nafina says to me "I don't speak English " I know she won't go any lower. They are good people .

Boy, is my hubby lucky! I don't wear much jewelry. And if the shoe is one the other foot and I have to ease his "pain" I just let him order some food that's on his NO list.

so,....

gotta ask.

20th anniversary is coming up. My b ride is so low low maintenance that I don't know what I'd get her.
She didn't choose anything from Tahiti, Israel, Paris over the years.

But having been to SXM so many times, would love to get her something ....authentic to SXM. Any recommendations?

Diamonds of lots of colors in Philipsburg. My fave is chocolate diamonds or ring or pendant with mother of pearl & diamonds. If she likes silver better the sexy fruits gift store near Orange fever or in Grand case have some beautiful pieces very reasonable but very nice. They have the pretty blue larimar stone in rings, pendants, earrings. Lovely jewelery & very nice people.

Think I'll just have to traipse through some stores with her to stoke her fires.

There is a stone common to SXM but I can't remember the name. Any good jewelry store can tell you. IT's blueish in color. I have a ring and everyone who sees it comments on it.

How about a Palm Tree or Flip Flop pendent. Many beautiful ones with gems.

Over the years, I bought some beautiful tanzanite jewelry in SXM - tanzanite and diamond earrings and a tanzanite and diamond tennis bracelet, all from Boolchands. Not sure if they are still there. Also a ring with an emerald-cut tanzanite set in it. Tanzanite is a bluish-purple stone - quite unusual.

Larimar is another blue stone common to the island. Lovely and not as expensive as tanzanite.

I think larimar is actually mined only in, possibly the DR? I have some larimar pieces. They are much closer to turquoise than anything else. More decorative than anything, to me. Tanzanite is stunning, but expensive.

There a stone called Saint Martin garnet. No real garnet but a red stone probably not even semi- precious. They used to besold in Marigot. Link below

I have one of those. Didn't realize it wasn't a real garnet. Although REAL garnets are ugly, in my opinion, so no big loss. It's my birthstone, so I tried to like it, honestly I did!!
