We had codeshares with Delta. When Silver cancelled flights Delta did nothing for us - we ended up buying Cape tickets. Delta would not compensate. I hope Jet Blue is better behaved. 😎

Did Silver get you your money back my friend? How long in advance did you know it was cancelled?
Usually we are Island Birds but just me this time

You're buying a single ticket with the connecting flight on Silver? Flights seem to be fine. Is that the cheapest route on that date?

Inbound found out on the flight to SJU. Outbound after we got to EIS (And I checked right before we left base to head to EIS and they were on time). I worked directly with Cape to save both arrival and departure as Delta was zero assistance and Silver customer service non-existent. I never received compensation. This was in 2022. It likely has improved but I am not going to risk it. Can you fly to MIA and then take an AA flight? When is the trip?

Google flights this morning is saying $467 for a one way ticket on AA from National going through Miami and arriving at 2:08. Bring your lovely wife and she can stay with us!

I booked through United and we were on our flight in San Juan and had to deplane for engine trouble. they kept telling us one hour, one hour. Wound up spending the night on our own dime. I wrote to united who gave me a $100 credit for the "trouble" but sent me to silver for the hotel refund. Still waiting, they had 3 planes flying that day and only one left san juan..... the St Thomas mid day flight also spent the night in San juan, that was on January 15th. Thought it might be easier than ferries.............. but never again unless i plan a few days in PR too.
Toast.......to Life; White Bay...heaven on earth. Diane

If your flight was booked through Delta on one PNR they had an absolute obligation to rebook your flight and handle hotel expenses ect.. I would have pursued compensation. They also code share with Cape Air so a rebook should have been possible. If however your flight was booked through a third party it’s likely they cobbled the flight together and essentially you were on separate tickets. In that case the obligation would lie with silver even though the flight may have appeared to be a code share.

Thanks RW but wife is coming in June and doesn't really enjoy this BVI stuff...things you find out 30 years later...lol. It was the cheapest but that isn't what I am looking for as I have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory too many times trying save some money on travel
I had looked at Miami but dont like coming back through customs there vs SJU. I will talk with Jet Blue and see if I can change to Cape Air
Thanks all

George - one ticket, booked through Delta, and I am Platinum. I never book third-party tickets. Delta was no help at all (well they could get me there three days later) so I had to take matters into my own hands. I filed a complaint and requested compensation, but then I wanted to enjoy the time on the water and didn’t follow up until I got home. On the return flight, the silver counter could do nothing to assist except suggest I try and see if the 4 hour later flight would depart as scheduled (!) and I couldn’t get through to Delta via phone. Thankfully I got to the airport early and was able to get to the Cape counter before the rest of the passengers on my flight and snagged one of the few remaining seats on a flight that made my connection. Again, filed complaints and request for compensation, but after repeated follow up, I just gave up. I suppose I could have just waited it out with Delta to “fix” the issues at SJU and EIS but I wasn’t interested in a few nights in SJU or Tortola so just dealt with it myself.
Silver customer service is non-existent so don’t expect anything at all from them.
I keep hoping Delta will come to its senses about the ATL - EIS route.

I have used JetBlue-Silver codeshare flights nearly 2 dozen times, and have never had a delay that caused me to miss a connection. I know it does happen, and when it does it can be extremely disruptive. The last two trips we have used the AA flight thru Miami on the way down, and the JetBlue-Silver flight on the way home. The point I am making is that your odds are good that you will not have MIDiver's experience.
As others on this board advocate, the only way to mitigate this risk is to opt for the ferry and flights through STT. For me, it is worth the risk for the very high probability that I can be on Tortola before noon (coming from MCO) with only one connection.

We used to do the STT ferry route but got tired of being stuck in STT on way out...very much like that DCA to SJU Jet Blue flight that arrives early and C&I in SJU vs Miami. Switched this one to Cape Air as they have a lot more flights. We usually do BVI with 8 or 9 and use Island Birds typically but solo this time...Thanks all and if anyone is out 3 Mar to 9 Mar would enjoy catching up
