We can do a:

Delta 11:30 arr 16:40 or (currently in C+ on DL)
JetBlue 09:30 arr 14:36 (no premium seats left) out of JFK on a Saturday.

On the one hand, we can sleep in a bit later and not rush to airport.
On the other, 2 extra hrs on the beach in the afternoon.

What would you do?

I have never flown JetBlue but Comfort+ on Delta is something to consider.

Many won’t agree with me but we would opt for the later JB departure. We used to depart earlier yet, allowing for the drive to the airport and the required check-in time and by the time we finally got to our villa we were too tired to enjoy the extra two or three hours that first day. The last few trips we’ve taken the later flight and arrived feeling almost human. 🙂🙂

Setting aside the airline involved, I personally would always vote for sleeping in later. The first day we basically just crash anyway. And, due to the current BS on arrivals, arriving at 4:40 versus 2:36 would probably mean less crap on arrival. Taking the airline into account, comfort plus is nice. Jet Blue regular seats do have more room than many other airlines do though.

Pat--unless I'm reading it wrong, the Delta flight arrives later.

Check PJIA to see how many other flights arrive around same time then pick the one that has less for easier time through customs and luggage pick up

The Delta flight is later. The JB would be cheaper but in cheaper seats. I'm inclined to let it be especially since not checking luggage. Just checked PJIA site and tough call. Looks like later arrival might be best.

The first day is always just go to our room and then hit Driftwood. Maybe grab groceries too.

Come to think of it, what grocery store are you guys using near Maho these days? And how late are they open on Sat?

Oh and BTW, here was the PJIA departure hall video that came up on my Facebook. new SXM PJIA video of departure hall

Sounds like you already have a flight booked, so will leave that question.

As far as grocery stores, what are you looking for? If just first day supplies, Maho Market should have everything you need for the first day. They are open late, like 11 PM, every day.

Check out her arrival flights on the airport website. Whichever flight arrives with less other flights is the one I would take.

yep, Ive had the DL flight booked for a while but saw the JetBlue flight, a few $ less. And it's pretty easy to swap but I think we're leaning on leaving it alone.

I have to say, booking and changes on the DL app seems much better than on AA or B6. Just from all our flights last year, TLV, SXM, YUL, CDG, the ease of use on the DL app was surprisingly good.

One day, we may have to book to AMS for a week, then SXM and back. smile

B6 is Jet Blue, for whatever reason.

Because JB, B1, B2, B3, B4, and B5 were already taken when JetBlue was created 🤣
