Has anyone been since it reopened? Searching web I found an entry saying opens 5 pm. Is this true? Or is it open for lunch as before?

Open at 5 & reservations are by WhatsApp only. No lunch. We had a really nice dinner there tonight. More restaurant like than beach bar as before. Furniture is very nice & still some seating down by water & patio area down there. Very busy also music a bit loud. We got in at 6:30 no reservation. Will post pictures soon. Attentive staff & pleasant! Will post menu.

We went in November. It was always one of our favorite places pre-irma. It was ok now, but not the same at all. Like jeepers said, more restaurant now. The food was very good, but the old vide is not there at all anymore. Will we go back? maybe. Which is sad, cause it was always a first night must do for us. ..but we really enjoyed the old feel of the place - picknic tables in hte sand, and that is not there anymore sadly.

Thanks all for the feedback. I'm checking for breakfast places and maybe lunch on our stay in Grand Case. I already have decided on our dinner places.

I'm returning to SXM for the first time in 8 years the first week of May... this time bringing someone new... She has never been to the Caribbean, I really thought Calmos would be a great "Feet in the sand, see that gorgeous sunset first dinner." If not Calmos, where? Food needs to be above LoLo quality. We are staying on Orient Beach, which we all know doesn't do the Sunset thing that Grand Case does.

I hear that the restaurant at LTC is really good, and they do breakfast and lunch on the beach according to their website.

I've already been to Ocean 82, and yes it's incredible, and if the new travel partner wants an incredible seafood dinner, its one of my possibilities. The whole point behind Calmos for the first night was to put her feet in the sand during sunset with a decent meal. Ocean 82 is indeed a great meal, with the sunset, but lacks the "feet in the sand" feel that the old Calmos had.

I have not personally been, but there's a new Tropics beach bar which I believe remains open through dinner, down near Rainbow in Grand Case. As I understand it, the owner is one of the bartenders from Hotel L'Esplenade. This would definitely be more of a "feet in the sand" experience; possibly even a little more rustic than the original Calmo's. At the very least, your friend could have the Grand Case sunset / cocktail / feet in the sand experience and then move onto dinner elsewhere.

Menu, food, decor. Beef ribs with dip/gravy, pork tenderloin with mustard sauce, French toast with salted caramel ice cream. Delicious. There were some seatings down at the water close to building as water is close to building right now.

PnPinNC--I agree, that's sad. There are plenty of upscale places in Grand Case. Calmos had a unique vibe.

I thought I had posted this, but I don't see it. I haven't been to Captain Frenchy for dinner, but their food at lunch is excellent. If they indeed have tables on the sand, it would be perfect.

We enjoyed dinner at Calmos twice last July. While the pics that Jeepers posted make it look more upscale than the old Calmos, We felt like it had the same vibe as before with the exception of the "feet in the sand" section. It was our understanding that the only reason that was missing was because there was no sand there. Food and service was excellent and the atmosphere was very upbeat without excessively loud music. Many of you know Sarah from Sao and formerly Le'Piment...Her boyfriend,Tio is a manager at Calmos and he made sure we had a great time.

We went there in November and December 2023 and it was really nice and maybe a little more expense than before. If you want a table overlooking the bay, I would really recommend a reservation. We were able to sit right at the rail watching the sunset. I think there were two tables below us, right on the beach, that need a reservation.

Capt Frenchy's is your best bet. There is dining inside, but most eat at picnic tables on the beach. Food is quite good, both lunch and dinner above Lolos standard fare and last time we were there they had live music.
