There are 5 of us and I have a bunch of available miles on Delta. Two are coming from NYC and 3 from HOU. I can get all of us to SJU using miles but that isn't the case for Delta flights to STT.

So I'm looking at options for SJU to EIS. Many years ago we flew Cape Air and loved it but now its flights are twice the fare of Sliver or Caribbean. So I have a couple of questions.

What is current feedback on the SJU to EIS options? What is ballpark price of a charter from SJU to EIS?

Get a charter quote from the Isla Grande airport. Our neighbors use that because it's cheaper.

I saw that option in earlier posts but have to also consider we pack a bit heavy (10 day charter) so we'd be hauling luggage in and out of SJU, taxis, Isla Grande, etc. Any recommendation for air charter?

http://www.airparadise.us/index.html is highly recommended - a friend uses them regularly. It might be tight for your group as he flies a Piper Aztec.

What's your final destination in the BVI? Tortola?

The Aztec should be able to handle 5 passengers and 500lbs of luggage. It might work.

Final destination is Moorings on Tortola. We'd probably be ok on the luggage but 2 of us are pretty big so weight could be an issue. I'll check them out.

The payload on the Aztec with about half fuel should be around 1500 lbs.

We've used Silver several times in the last year and have had no issues (they flight much larger planes than Cape Air).

OK, was asking about final destination because Tradewinds is now flying SJU -> VIJ using the Pilatus PC-12 and their rates looked pretty reasonable (last time I looked).

Hi. I don't have any info on this thread. However, got tired of seeing "EJU" instead of SJU, so I changed it. Carry on.

We've flown Silver annually since 2016 (except 2020), and we've only had a few minor issues. The newer plane they are flying is a much better experience. With this said, we have always used a code share option through American - so we don't touch bags on the way down and only pay for them once on each leg (since it's international, our status on American doesn't cover the bags). If Delta has a code share with Silver, you could obviously buy some of the tickets through to EIS with code share and pay cash for the rest. Just a thought - good luck!

I believe Delta code shares with Silver but the fact I'd be using Delta miles (some Delta miles mostly Amex points which can transfer to Delta) seems to prevent booking through to EIS. I suspect baggage will have to be claimed and rechecked to Silver in San Juan. We'd also have to get separate tickets for the last leg which can create problems if there are flight cancellations.

These issues are why for the last 2 trips we went to STT and took the ferry. However mileage requirements to go to St. Thomas are about 50% more than to San Juan.

Delta dropped the code share with Silver due to performance issues. They do codeshare with CapeAir to EIS.
