Last night was our final evening, sunset at Dany's on Cupecoy and got this shot of No1SXM which we have done before and highly recommend for a sunset sail. Uncrowded and they actually sail not motor, he is very a very skilled sailor. Dany's at Cupecoy is our favorite place to watch sunsets, good group last night there.
This was our longest trip at four weeks and are ready to head home and see our dog Blanton and enjoy the holidays. We have had a very good trip and relaxed, I think we fit two weeks into four would be a good way to put it. Will be back on island in March.
It has been clearly stated to us that "you don't have to go home but you can't stay here" !!!
On my next-to-last night, I went on the sunset sail and persuaded Debbie and Doug, owners of Horny Toad, to go with me. Doug is a sailor, built a boat in South Africa, and sailed it to SXM. (He has not met Neil Roebert. I urged him to do so as I think they would have a lot in common.) Pieter let Doug do the sailing on this trip, and Doug was in his element, smiling the whole time. This is me with Debbie and Doug. It was a great evening.
Nice picture Jazzgal. Doug told us that story how he sailed his boat from South Africa to St. Maarten and anchored in front of the Horny Toad. Once he came ashore, I think (if I remember correctly) he met Betty, who was the owner at the time, and eventually Deb, who visited every once and awhile. Last time we were at the Toad, Deb recommended taking the sunset cruise. So glad we did. Iām sure Doug loved sailing that evening.
Great shot!!! Thanks for sharing!! YEAH, going home in the winter months sucks!!! Glad you made it ok! Four weeks??? Next on the bucket list for us!! Love that!
