11/1 and 2 Beautiful day. Awoke to the rising sun streaming in our windows. Could it get any better?! Yup!! Coffee and fresh pastries on the rear porch while watching the waves roll in. I could get really used to this!! Had some errands to do that took us in the general vicinity of Mark’s Place so lunched there. John had a beautiful seafood salad plate and I enjoyed the first chicken sate with peanut sauce that I’ve had since Cafe Juliana went away. It was yummy! Stopped into Carrefour market for a few things and then Zee Best to replenish our dwindling pastry supplies. And finally, home sweet home. Made plans to join friends for dinner. There were seven of us and we thought we’d meet at Maho and try Roma having heard so many great reviews. I kept trying to call for a reservation but couldn’t get through beyond a recording saying ‘please leave a message’ so off we all went, only to get there and discover they’re closed on Wednesdays which explains why I couldn’t get through. Decisions re change of dinner venue made on the fly and we decided on the La Brasserie next door to Bar Code in Jordan Village. As it turned out it was a good choice. The atmosphere was typical, the acoustics were terrible, the food was enjoyable - not great but still good and the prices were reasonable. The company was absolutely outstanding!. The menu offered a full range of choices and the only complaint I heard (and had….) was they needed more garlic in the escargot!. Maybe not for everyone but we enjoyed it. Got home about ten or so. Some may have made one last deposit at the casino but we headed home and to lalaland? Awoke on Thursday to a beautifully sunny sky and beams of same sunshine streaming through our sliders. What’s not to love about that? Typical regimen of coffee and pastry in and then on to some errands that needed doing. We had to go to the pharmacy at Almond Grove and boy, did we ever get caught in a mess of heavy traffic. I didn’t think we’d ever get back to the Maho area and once we did we saw no hint as to what the problem was. From the pharmacie all the way to and over the causeway and through the roundabout it was wall to wall cars and then nothing. We finally got home and fixed lunch before going out to the pool to visit with some fellow guests before they leave for home tomorrow. We had dinner at the Spaghetti House in Jordan Village. Yummy as always. DH had baby clams with linguine and I had beef carpaccio. Both were excellent but it was eerily quiet there tonight, and even across the street at Fat Tony’s. Katerina has added a cute outside dining area and even hosted a Halloween Party of sorts there last night. And so goes another SXM couple of days.
Respectfully,
pat
