I am not sure if this was mentioned in any of the recent threads.
If so, kindly delete this.

There is a live beach WebCam for the relatively new Dinghy’s Beach, Bar and Grill on Simpson Bay.
It does not seem to actively work on my iPhone, but it will work on a computer or tablet. I have been watching it this morning. A good view of the beach, and Simpson Bay looking towards Pelican Key

https://dinghysbeachbar.com/st-maarten-web-cam/

Click on the beach WebCam. It seems to be functioning fine. The airport WebCam is not working this morning.

Always fun to watch these WebCams when we are not there. 😎🌴

In case you’re wondering what it looks like, this is what it looks like on my TV using the web browser.

Yes, it has been mentioned here before, but that's OK. I don't think I've ever seen the airport cam working. Perhaps it is only on in the afternoons or something, when there is a lot of activity there.

Although, unless that woman is frozen in time, I believe this is a short loop of video....

If that's not a mannequin, it's Minnie Pearl because I believe I see a price tag on her hat.

OK, that's weird. She hasn't moved at all. I did see a fellow walk by at one point. It must be a mannequin, I guess.

Yes, that is a lady mannequin with the pink hat.
Don’t keep watching in hopes that she will move.😂😂

Good to hear but I'm having second thoughts of going there because of the tipping issue , i.e 20% nah .

Since it's close by to you stop in and voice your opinion about the 20% add on. They need to know that people might stay away because of that.

Wow, I am finding myself agreeing with Scubaman here! rofl

Lesley--you should stop by there and tell them that their policy on added tipping will not go over well, and if they want to survive, they will modify their policy. It is very difficult for a new business to survive in that location, and they are setting themselves up for failure from the start. I think that, since you are a local businessman, they should listen to you.

Oh my gosh are you kidding?!? 20% add on? that's a lot and totally ridiculous. That's as crazy as charging for parking. Are they also charging to use a credit card? Sounds like the Sprit beach bar of SXM. Nothing says stay away more than adding all these crazy charges. The food and drinks are high enough. If they can't make enough money then add it to the menu prices. Tough business and tricky location to make it plus lots of better beach bars close by. I wonder if the cruise ship day people will pay the extra 20% too. Time will tell.

About Dinghy's Beach Bar & Grill and tipping. The only mandatory service charge that they put on their bills is for parties of 6 or more and that is a 20% fee. I have confirmed that with Jake and a copy of the relevant exchange is posted below along with their menu... It is quite possible that an honest mistake was made to Pat & John's bill. I would hope, that if they happened to return and mentioned it to Jake, that he would hopefully find someway to correct the situation. Again, honest mistakes do happen and that is no reason to trash a business.

There were two people, from my understanding. No "trashing" in their post, just facts.

Glad you got that clarified. Lots of restaurants, even here in the states, have a posted fee on menu for parties over 6. Which is what I though Dingies did.

There was one person that stated that they were charged a 20% service charge, not two. Those are the facts. Fabila mentioned that they have dined there twice without noticing any 20% service charge. And you have had people state that it is a bad policy and would keep them from visiting the business. You yourself said, "they are setting themselves up for failure from the start". Add this to past comments about music and God forbid, that they might allow cruise ship people visit the beach there, it pretty much adds up to "trashing" their business.

I couldn't agree more! I'm glad to know that they're only adding that tip on larger parties, and will definitely be on the lookout for any mistakes. I'm looking forward to trying this new place, as the location is convenient when we don't feel like the trek over to Grand Case or Orient.

Its hard to get a business permit , bank account, credit card account etc on the Island so MAYBE that's is the issue on not taking credit cards. just speculation. I like the option of credit cards so I don't have to carry cash and that other payment stuff is a hassle to use. I do like that beach when no sea weed is there.
