Day 2 started with us throwing on a quick set of cloths to head downstairs a few doors down to McDonald’s as it was there and soon to open. Our intention was a quick coffee but instead we thought we’d check if SMYC was open. Good choice they were open. We arrived at 7:30a ate breakfast with proverbial Bloody Mary’s. Many others had the same idea for breakfast because during our stay they had a good crowd.
With the curfew in place at noon we decided to take a ride to Bucs th n turn around and head to Maho Village. Very few shops and restaurants were open most were boarded up.
We returned to Travelers Inn where we met up later with friends also stating here. While having cocktails a team of officials came in to speak with manager. We asked what was going on to which they replied they had to close. Further discussion ensued doors were closed but as hotel guests we did not have to leave AL Pasha. This is an open air Lebanese restaurant and bar where you can exit through door leading to lobby of Travelers Inn. Because it was a hotel restaurant as guests we could stay. We did see other non guests though walk in to take out food. At 4 pm we were told to order because they were closing at 5.
David and I shared the Kefta kebabs which included 2 sides and the option to upgrade for a fixed price yo premium sides at $2.50 each. We upgraded to scallop potatoes (I know not very Lebanese) and Tabouli. Sorry to say I didn’t care for either. The kebabs thought we deliciously seasoned so that with some pita pieces were very good.
Spend rest of night in as we had no choice. We were able to maintain Tv and WiFi access during the night.
Don’t judge the photos as the kebabs don’t look appealing but I couldn’t style the food any better. In this case a picture is not worth a thousand words.
As I write the the storm is as close as it’s going to get to SXM. No rain and appears less windy than last night. Checked with an acquaintance who lives on Simpson Bay that the waves are mellow so hoping we can move back to Beachside today .
Thanks for posting. The description of the kabobs sounds very good on the menu. Perhaps we will get takeout from there sometime, as it does sound good. Sounds like SXM definitely has dodged a bullet this time!
Carol, their food is very good. We usually eat there about twice each trip. Service is always good there too, and most important, we can always find parking right in front of there too.
