Yeah, that's what I was thinking. No one planning any trips, even?

We're planning our first New Year in the islands. Certainly will be interested in hearing everyone's favorite place to ring in the new year. But if Sam is grilling at Potter's, it would be pretty hard to sway the commodore in a different direction.

We are coming in February 2024 for our 7th VG land based trip. I love the forum but since we are not sailors, I don’t have much to contribute.

We will be down checking on our boat 10/25-11/1. Quick trip this time. Then back 12/28-1/10. First time we have braved the holidays but it was the only time that worked for my son and his family.

This Forum is not just about "sailors". All of us who only do land based visits can have a TON of valuable info/tips to post. Like where do you stay, eat, sites, etc.

We’re heading down for a sailing trip sometime in February, but I love all the land based advice too, like where to stay pre and post sailing, great places to eat, shop, snorkel….Guess I better start asking questions! 😎

Personally I would like to hear more about the land especially VG. We used to spend a lot of time at Katitiche Point before hitting the water. We go back in June for 1/2 land at JVD and then 1/2 sea

We will be down Nov 5-13 on the monohull Reventador (or something like this, not an easy name to remember).

Our second trip - looking forward to it.

@ Bailau- 100% land based VG visitor here! It's a very special place-we have been looking for land there for quite a while now. You should squeeze in a land-based visit when you can!

Pam and I will be at our villa (south sound Villa) nov 25- dec 22 Going to check out all the new additions to the villa. I ran a 1 mile water line to the government water system to work with our desalination plant as backup. Our tennis/ pickleball court should be completed as well as our new equipment building to house all our trucks, cars, john deere tractor, beach cleaning equipment . WE have a new dock with attached floating dock for boats, as well as a new waterside building for all our water toys and beach chairs for the dock. While the villa has not changed much this year lots of improvements like Starlink wifi (very fast).
I also became a great grandpa this year and will meet him in Dec. at the villa for the first time. Looking forward to a great time at the villa. Just got back from a wonderful 1 week trip to Yellowstone. I can't recommend it enough. We rented a very large 4 bedroom home in Emigrant, Mt and at the end of the week woke up with snow in the mountains.
Such fun!.

we will do 7 days at PInk House JVD and then sea...miss VG but Katitche Point was destroyed where we used to stay. Is the tower on top of the Gorda peak open yet?

where do you stay and what do you recommend doing?

Yes, what a shame about Katitche. I heard quite some time ago that it was under contract (how reliable that is I don't know). It would be so nice to see it rebuilt.
Unless done recently, the tower is not rebuilt to the best of my knowledge.
We have stayed many places on the island. Nail Bay was our sweet spot for years as it is so central. Lately though, with the re-vitalization of North Sound, we have started staying in villas in Leverick (Dos Sols this coming trip) Many folks discourage this area because it isn't as close to the beaches as some other locations however, there are very few places you can stay right ON the beach, which puts you in a car anyway. Places near the Baths (Guavaberry for example) are close yes, but then you just have to drive for literally everything else. There is a reason everyone is drawn to North Sound-it has a lot to offer and for a land based visitor who doesn't want to sit on a beach all day there are tons of things to do. We have found that staying in Leverick has cut down on our traversing the island a LOT. Not to mention the views are killer from those hills!

We stayed in Dos Sons Villa back in 2008, it was lovely and you are right, the views are incredible.
