Just an update from Saturday night to yesterday. We went to the BBB for burgers and some music. It was fun. Unfortunately since the Roxxy and the cocky turtle were closed it was very dark on beach so we decided to walk around down welfare and up Billy Folly. A mistake my wife tripped in one of the many holes and fell scraping her knee and spraining her ankle. Luckily no broken bones but it has slowed her down but each day she is better. Sunday was a recoop day ice and ankle brace no dinner since we called to late for room service! But we’d had some lunch meat and stuff in the room. My brave wife, a trooper ,decided to go to orient beach- went to Orange fever. Coco beach, KKO, playa, bikini, wai, Waikiki, kontiki, were all closed on Monday. We had a pleasant day at beach. Monday for dinner we tried The Chef Table diagonally across from sale e Pepe. Just opened in late August. We shared a beef carpaccio- excellent. For a cocktail we had the chef sangria very refreshing. My wife ordered a pasta dish which was unique - spinach and mushrooms in unique sauce. I had the duck confit serviced with mashed potatoes and black beans. Both were unique and excellent. Bread was served -very unique pieces with olive oil and basil dip. All dishes have some Caribbean influence. We had a long talk with the co-owner a Syrian expat raised in SXM. The chef is also a co-owner- Chef Laurence. He is a native St. Maarten chef having been Executive chef at Holland House and Big Fish. He came out to talk to us also. Highly recommend it. Cost $128 including the dreaded service charge
Tuesday went the succerie for croissants -almond, almond chocolate and regular. Somehow they tasted over baked. Off to Mary Boons . We were only people on beach a lot of sarragasum on beach. Had bitterballen and cocktails nice and quiet - just the Boon dogs for company. Went to Fat Tony’s for steak special. Great for the price. And enjoy the steel drum and oldies played by the group.

Sorry to hear about your wife's fall. Glad she seems to be getting better. Where are you staying, that they have room service? By the way, I haven't personally used it yet, but I hear there is a place like Uber Eats or whatever, that delivers from a bunch of different places on island.
Bitterballen seems to be an acquired taste. We tried it once and didn't care for it.
Enjoy the rest of your stay!

Interesting, didn't know RP had room service, perhaps a recent thing. As I said, there are people who do delivery, especially that early.

orders.sx is the SXM version of Uber Eats etc. We used it several times last February. On time and reasonable price. They have added several more restaurants. We stay at La Vista Beach and they had no trouble finding unit.

Looks like that is only for the Dutch side. I looked up one for the French side and found delifood-sxm.com Haven't used it, but it looks interesting.

Blues fan,
Out of personal curiosity, how do you figure tips for this service? Do you base your gratuity on the distance and time traveled or on the price of the meal? Assuming there is a flat fee for using the service, right?🙂🙂
Respectfully,
pat

Just like grocery deliveries - tip 15-20%. Doesn’t matter how far they travel from. But that’s me! And always cash to the delivery person

I always add tip to online order and then round up $5 or $10 for delivery person. Orders.sx pays restaurant when they pick up order and then you pay delivery person the full amount. They prefer cash which is what I do. Since drinks not included cost of food alone is modest. Orders.sx undoubtedly pays restaurant a discounted price.
