Love the video. They timed it to get the plane coming in. The viewing platform was built by the previous owner but the new owners have added a roof, lights and I suppose a bar.
We'll be checking it out in October!! People are wondering about the level of the music at night. The only music I want to hear is the sound of the ocean in front of my unit#1!!!
Despite the bad luck of the last beach bar there its always been a nice beach but maybe a little out of the way for some. We stay at BSV or Beacon Hill from time to time so hopefully they will limit any music or noise to daytime. We don't need another ROXY type of loud bar in the Beacon Hill neighborhood please. With Five or so nice beach bars already on Simpson Bay I can't imagine the need for another one but we will probably go check it out next month. Hopefully SXM does let another beach get to commercialized.
We took a walk to the Dinghys Bar and had a drink at the bar. Nice menu and very friendly people working there. The place is very clean and updated. We met Easila, her and her family own the place and they also own a similar beach bar in St Thomas. Seem like they have it together nicely. We did not eat there but will soon.
As far as the beach getting “commercialized” that ship has already sailed. There has been a place there for years. And as long as there is going to be a beach bar there it might as well be be a nice one like this new one appears to be.

Oh, I though Topper bought the place. That's what I had heard.
Topper is building that building almost next to Beachside, for sure. I think that perhaps he also bought that property in Beacon Hill that he demolished it and then was trying to build condos on the property.
We stopped by Dingy Beach yesterday for a light afternoon bite to eat and had the jerk chicken sandwich on a toasted roll. It was excellent and a lot to eat for a sandwich. It had a thick jerk sauce on it which we had not seen before. We got the side of cole slaw which was not big but very good. The service has been great and the staff friendly.
Arrived early yesterday at our Beacon Hill rental. Went by the new beach bar out of curiosity. Maybe to late as not a lot of people around so the service was good and drinks cold. As the previous business that was there, it’s still pretty basic beach bar no frills necessarily but adequate. A lot of beach bars seems like now on Simpson bay, everyone is interested in something new at first but we still much prefer Buccaneers or The Boon as their facilities are much nicer and more amenities. Plus they are long time loyal islanders. Roxy is nice but not our thing and expensive.
As I understand it, pretty sure Jessica still owns that beach bar property in the hotel, because he also owns the property down the beach at Karakter and leases it out. It was her late fathers property years ago and might have some family issues as far as selling it. But I understand she was trying to develop the property around karakter for a condo. Topper I think was still building those condos next to the new beach bar on Simpson bay as seen in the picture. I think it’s called The Drake. Fairly expensive from what I’ve heard. His Beacon Hill project is under protest probably rightfully so since it’s just to big and out of place for the neighborhood. Let’s see what happens. Seems like it’s still a who you know thing.
We are just up the steps and down a bit in Beacon Hill from the beach and hear sort of loud music until about midnight but honestly cannot say where it was coming from. But it all might be a non issue in time because I over heard and pretty sure the new beach bar and little guest house there is already having legal issues as with the last tenant with the sxm lady property owner. I see in the paper the Gov is trying to control the late noise problems. Let's see if anything really happens because people need to sleep and you're not a good neighbor and won't support them if you don't respect that. IMO
We used to have a high timeshare unit at the Towers and heard relatively loud music from our balcony almost every night though we didn’t know where it emanated from. We never heard it going in or out of the building. We now stay at Beachside right on the water and have never heard any music at all and I’ve always thought sound traveled over water.
I’m almost embarrassed to ask this Silly question but could the volume levels have something to do with sound traveling up rather than across? 🙃🙃

Pat--surprised you never hear anything at BSV. Particularly on Sundays, we almost always hear music from somewhere down toward Karakter, often until at least midnight.
